Location
The Abbey Resort is the perfect getaway location for those looking for a relaxing break, near the water but away from the crowds. The resort is situated by the beautiful Lake Geneva with plenty of outdoor activities like walks and lake access for water sports and a stunning view of the pier. The resort is not too far from Chicago but provides a nice escape from the city with a convenient location close to restaurants, cafes and shops in a charming small town. The resort is situated in a beautifully landscaped area, easily accessible and offers plenty of leisure activities within walking distance, making it a perfect location for visiting with friends, family or a romantic weekend. Although some guests had minor complaints about their specific room location, the overall reviews praise the great and comfortable location for a truly magical Lake Geneva experience.

Breakfast
Based on the guest reviews, The Abbey Resort offers a breakfast buffet that is worth the price, although some guests suggest that the wait staff should better explain what's available. Others felt the cost was a bit steep but still satisfying. There is an on-site restaurant but limited options were available especially for healthy eaters. John's omelettes receive rave reviews, as does the overall quality of the breakfast buffet. However, some guests were not too pleased with the coffee quality in their rooms or in the breakfast area and others noted that the tables and options could use more attention to cleanliness. Additionally, some guests felt that the breakfast options were lacking in variety and convenience with no simple breakfast available. Despite these minor setbacks, guests generally felt that the breakfast served at The Abbey Resort was delicious and worth the price.

Dinner
The Abbey Resort offers guests a variety of dining options, including two indoor restaurants with a nice choice of food. While some guests have mentioned disappointment with the food quality in the past, others have raved about the awesome restaurants and very good food at the 240 restaurant. The steak house dinner, on the other hand, was not tasty, cold and overpriced for some guests. Despite some mixed reviews, the food at the resort was nicely served and well prepared. It's worth noting that menu choices may be very limited, particularly for healthier options. Additionally, some guests were disappointed with the service they received during dinner. Nonetheless, the waterfront restaurant receives high praise and one reviewer even called 240West restaurant's waitstaff TOP. While dinner may have been awful for one guest, others enjoyed their feast and found it to be a highlight of their stay.

Rooms
The Abbey Resort offers a peaceful and pretty location with comfortable rooms, featuring amenities such as comfortable beds, nice TV, microwave, coffee machine and refrigerator. Some rooms even have a beautiful view of the harbor and are well-decorated for the holidays. Guests can also enjoy the amazing spa and the nice facilities of the hotel. However, some guests have encountered issues such as poor lighting, outdated furniture, dirty carpets and walls and odor in the hallways. Also, there were some concerns about the lack of cleanliness in some of the rooms with cobwebs and stained sheets being common complaints. Nonetheless, the vast majority of guests seemed to enjoy the comfortable rooms and clean environment, as well as the convenient location.

Beds
If you're looking for a good night's sleep, The Abbey Resort might just have what you need. Guests rave about the comfortable beds, which make it easy to drift off to sleep after a long day of exploring. Even those who found their bed a little hard were quick to sing its praises, thanks to the overall high level of comfort provided. The rooms themselves are also a highlight with plenty of space to stretch out and relax. Some guests did note that the beds were a bit high, but this doesn't seem to have detracted from the overall comfort factor. All in all, if comfort is a top priority for you when booking a hotel, The Abbey Resort's beds are sure to impress.

Cleanliness
The Abbey Resort impresses with its cleanliness and daily cleaning routine. Most guests describe the hotel as very clean and comfortable with nicely appointed rooms. However, some guests highlighted cleanliness issues, such as dirty walls, doors and carpets in hallways and rooms, moldy shower caulk and garbage in hallways. The pool also needs more attention as some guests noticed dirty chairs and floors. A few guests mentioned outdated or worn-out furniture and fixtures and broken or dirty arcade games. Nevertheless, the resort staff is responsive and consistently works to address guests' concerns. The grounds are well maintained and guests appreciate the quiet ambiance of the hotel.

Staff
The Abbey Resort receives high marks for its staff with guests reporting that everyone from the front desk to the waitstaff to the activity center staff was pleasant, friendly and helpful. While some guests did report isolated incidents of rude behavior or unresponsiveness, these cases were largely the exception rather than the rule. Several guests cited specific staff members by name who they found particularly helpful or accommodating. Despite occasional staffing shortages, guests reported that the resort was generally clean and well-maintained with a beautiful property and plenty of activities to keep everyone entertained. Overall, The Abbey's staff receives high praise for their excellent customer service and attentiveness to guests' needs.

Spa
The Abbey Resort boasts an amazing spa experience with its Avanti spa, which received multiple positive reviews from guests. Guests raved about the spa service, especially with Sarah. The spa area also offers a beautiful pool with a pleasing pool area. Some guests were able to access the spa all day long, but some experienced overbooking issues. Despite this, several reviews described the spa as excellent and worth paying for the pool experience. Additionally, some guests booked couples massages at the Avani Spa and reported it was a great experience. However, the spa was quite expensive, ranging from $30 a day to use the steam room/sauna and over $150 for a massage. Overall, the spa and pool areas were great and while booked, were worth the visit along with other hotel amenities like restaurants and lounging areas.

Pool
Guests at The Abbey Resort can enjoy a choice of two pools – indoor and outdoor – complete with hot tubs for a relaxing experience. The beautiful indoor pool boasts large windows bringing a forest-like atmosphere, while the outdoor pool comes complete with slides and basketball hoops for some family fun. The kids’ pool is separate and offers super warm water for little ones to enjoy. Guests who prefer some privacy can use the adults-only pool. However, one reviewer pointed out that they were disappointed with the service at the pool and another complained that the chairs and lounges were old and uncomfortable. Despite a few negative comments on cleanliness, most reviewers rated the pools as really good, nice, fantastic and great, though some did suggest that the pools could be better cleaned at night. The spa pool is available and usually sold out by 4 pm. While some guests found the pool area hard to find, others thought it was great, pleasing and offered plenty of parking. However, some reviewers noted that there were no bathroom facilities in the pool area and no shade umbrellas available. Live music added to the atmosphere. Despite a few hiccups, most guests thought that the pools were one of the highlights of their stay and that it was a great location with lots of activities to do.

Family
The Abbey Resort is the perfect destination for a family trip. The beautiful resort offers a plethora of activities for kids, including indoor and outdoor kiddie pools, smores campfire, game room where children had a great time. The outdoor pool has basketball hoops and slides and the water is super warm. The availability of a playground nearby and being within walking distance to the water, restaurants/bars was a huge plus. The rooms were perfect for families with screen doors and an indoor pool with balls to occupy the children during rainy days. The resort didn't disappoint with plenty of restaurant/bar options to choose from. Although, some guests faced difficulty in fetching passes for the beach, however, overall, the resort had everything that families needed. Their only wish was for more family-friendly, affordable dining options and printed material in the rooms identifying ways to avail room service, restaurant menus and vending machines.

Accessible
Guests with disabilities will appreciate the beautifully landscaped and easily accessible surroundings at The Abbey Resort. While there were a few minor inconveniences like the occasional unlocked side door and early check-in fees, the hotel staff was accommodating and even moved one guest closer to the entrance. Some guests noted that there were no elevators to their second-floor rooms, making it difficult to carry luggage, but the amenities more than made up for this. Additionally, those with electric cars should note that only Tesla models can be charged at the hotel. Overall, accessibility is not perfect, but the stunning surroundings and attentive staff make The Abbey Resort worth a stay.
