There are plenty of activities for kids, including a playroom and a swimming pool with a cinema. However, some guests complained about the noise level in the pool area with children jumping and throwing balls without any intervention from staff. Some of the equipment in the kids' playroom was also broken or dirty. On the other hand, the staff made a real effort to welcome children and create a family-friendly atmosphere. The breakfast is reportedly enjoyed by all with the hotel providing cot beds for young children (although there were some complaints about slow service with getting one). Overall, families seemed to have a great time at this hotel, even if some aspects could use a little more attention. Be aware though that they are quite busy, especially with kids, so if you're looking for a more leisurely environment, it might not be the best fit.

The family rooms are a great size and very comfortable with child put-up beds available for the little ones. While rooms with 3 beds are not available, the staff are very accommodating and will set up pull out beds in front of hot radiators, which the kids will love. The hotel is situated in a great location with a riverside park just 5 mins away, complete with a lake, kids park and shops within a 5-minute drive. The garden rooms are perfect for the kids and the staff are very welcoming to families. The restaurant is a great place for family get-togethers with excellent service and delicious food. Children are, unfortunately, unable to access the swimming pool until 9am, but that is a minor detail in an overall great experience. Recently, families have stayed here to attend weddings or to see The Open at St. Andrews. Overall, the Best Western Balgeddie House Hotel is a fantastic choice for families looking for a comfortable and welcoming place to stay.
