Monastery
During the early 16th century, a Franciscan convent was built where the hotel stands today. Since the 17th century was an era of many and intense wars for Portugal, a strong fortification was built around the monastery, resulting in soldiers and monks living together in its premises. The building was turned into a hotel in 1997.
