Nestled in a charming 15th-century building, The Christopher Hotel in Eton offers a noteworthy experience, consistently exceeding the expectations typically associated with a three-star rating. Despite its official classification, many guests believe the hotel operates more like a four-star establishment, highlighted by its overall quality and comfort.
One of the major highlights is the hotel's immaculate cleanliness. Rooms are recently renovated, bright, clean, modern and spacious, ensuring a cozy and comfortable stay. The bathrooms, described as well-appointed, bright and spacious, add to the appeal of the accommodations.
The hotel's location earns frequent praise, contributing to its favorable standing among travelers. Guests continuously comment on the friendly and attentive staff and the solid breakfast served, all adding to the overall pleasant experience.
While the absence of an elevator and narrow stairs can be a minor inconvenience, especially for those traveling with heavy luggage, this is a small trade-off given the historical charm of the building. The hotel meets basic amenity expectations appropriate for its three-star status, though it might seem a bit overpriced to some for the level of services offered.
The Christopher Hotel appears to be a great choice for those seeking reliable three-star accommodation with the added benefit of notable historical charm and a prime location in Eton.

Harte & Garter offers a charming external appearance and is centrally located in the heart of Windsor, making it a convenient choice for travelers wishing to explore the area. Guests often highlight the friendly and attentive staff who contribute to an enjoyable stay, alongside efficient room service and a delicious breakfast. The rooms are described as quiet, comfortable, and spacious, providing a pleasant retreat after a day out.
However, it's important to note that the hotel undeniably shows signs of wear. While some rooms are clean and serve their purpose well, the overall property is in need of significant refurbishment. Issues such as dated decor, curious room layouts, and inadequate bathroom facilities are mentioned by guests. Despite these challenges, the prime location and the picturesque surroundings often outweigh the negatives for many, making it a favorite for those prioritizing convenience and service over modern fittings. All in all, Harte & Garter might just be the perfect pit stop for those planning a short stay in Windsor with expectations set accordingly.
