For those with transportation, the hotel's proximity to various landmarks was a bonus. However, some guests warned that nearby food options were limited and mostly required a ride. Others were disappointed by the high prices compared to similar hotels in Unawatuna and found the hotel rather depressing. Despite its shortcomings, Cocobay Unawatuna's breathtaking natural surroundings and private beach received high praise from its guests.
