Info
Summary of reviewsMcMenamins Edgefield is a great option for an affordable stay, despite the age of the buildings. While some guests found the rooms to be small and the hallways dark, overall the stay was enjoyable. Families with young children or older adults will appreciate the quiet atmosphere in the evenings. Although the soaking pool is currently closed due to COVID, there are still plenty of amenities to enjoy. Guests should be prepared for some noise, especially during a snow storm, but can find warm and cozy rooms. While some food may get rained on, the overall experience is positive.

Very Good
Rooms
McMenamins Edgefield is a wonderful place to stay if you're looking for historic buildings that have been beautifully restored to their original glory. The dorm arrangement is affordable and very clean, perfect for budget-conscious travelers. The rooms are spacious and spotless, except for one guest who found their room too small. However, the Chris Issak room was a hit with its fascinating backstory and lack of TVs. The grounds are magical at night, making for an unforgettable stay.

While some guests noted that the age-range of those who would enjoy this hotel are limited, others complained about the lack of air conditioning and TVs and the thin walls. The pillows and beds aren't the most comfortable, but they are bearable. Lastly, guests think that the food at the Black Rabbit could use some updating.

Overall, McMenamins Edgefield is a gem of a hotel with plenty of character, history and charm. Simply put, it's a great place to stay for those who don't require the usual amenities of a typical hotel.

3 Star
McMenamins Edgefield has a lot to offer for an inexpensive stay, but keep in mind that the structures are over 100 years old. Some guests found the rooms to be small and the hallways to be dark, but the stay overall was pleasant. The hotel is great for families with young children or older adults as it tends to quiet down early in the evening. Unfortunately, the soaking pool is currently closed due to COVID. Be prepared for some noise, especially during a snow storm, but try to snag a room that stays warm. Just keep in mind that some of the food may get rained on.
