The spa features an indoor heated pool and sauna, which attracted many guests to the hotel. However, due to COVID-19 restrictions, the spa and cafe were closed during some weekdays. The nice fitness center was unfortunately only available to spa guests, not hotel guests. One disappointed guest had to leave early due to an emergency and was unable to complete their scheduled spa session. Despite these restrictions, the spa facilities were open (except for the gym and spa) for those who were able to access them. Overall, guests recommend the spa and plan on returning when it's open again.

With options available for spa treatments, as well as lounging by the beautiful pool and immersing in geothermal heated pools, guests are truly spoiled for choice. A simple opportunity to sit and relax the entire day is what many visitors crave and the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa delivers. The separate spa pools without children make it a great place to unwind. Guests can bring their furry friends along, as the hotel is dog-friendly with amenities provided. The Covid restrictions did limit the spa experience, but the staff was excellent with enforcing mask wearing and limited the people in the pool area. While the resort fee does not include the use of the spa pools, the daily access of $50 is worth it. With the exception of a few negative reviews, the spa facilities are rejuvenating and truly special. We just can't wait until they reopen the spa with all its amazing features.

Guests couldn't stop raving about the excellent service provided by the attentive staff and many noted that the massages they received were some of the best they'd ever had. The mineral pools were a particular highlight and guests can't wait for the mud baths to resume. However, a few guests noted that their spa experience wasn't perfect - some had issues with the chlorinated water, while others were locked out of the hot pool and had to run around in the cold to find someone to let them in. A few guests also mentioned sharing a massage room with a loud stranger. Overall, guests were impressed with the stellar spa services at Dr Wilkinsons Backyard Resort and Mineral Springs.
