Historic HotelDating as far back as the 14th century, Penha Longa Resort was built by St. Jerome's Order when they decided to build a monastery where the hotel stands today. The monastery was destroyed after 5 centuries, but the resort used to be a favourite getaway destination for various royal Portuguese families, since its supreme location surrounded by nature allowed them to pursue their hunting hobbies.
