The Pestana Grand Ocean Resort Hotel boasts a superb location with stunning ocean views visible from the balconies of the hotel rooms. The hotel's position on a cliff overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and Cabo Girau is particularly breathtaking, while the walking path and access to the promenade boardwalk provide additional avenues for enjoying the beautiful scenery. Guests particularly appreciated the hotel's peaceful location while still being close enough to visit Funchal via the local bus stops or easy walk to the city center. The location is also adjacent to restaurants and shops with a shopping center nearby. Despite being farther from the city center, the location still garnered plenty of praise with many guests labeling it "excellent".

The saltwater pool is marvellous with a choice of food, a sauna and spa facilities available. However, some guests were left disappointed with the indoor pool, as it was too cold for their liking.

Regardless, the pool area and its atmosphere, right by the ocean, will persuade you to relax and bask in the sun, lying on a sun lounger overlooking the sea. The surrounding area of the pool is accessible and comfortable with plenty of sun lounges available. The hotel has a children's pool and a jacuzzi exclusively for adults.
