Breakfast
Guests at the Damson Dene Hotel raved about the breakfast options with many describing the food as exceptional and delicious. The buffet style breakfast had a large variety of options, including a full English breakfast, toast, jam, marmalade, pastries, yogurt, cereal and fruit. Some guests wished for more fruit options, but overall were satisfied with the variety provided. The breakfast sausages and freshly made croissants were especially praised. Vegetarian options were also available. While some guests experienced hot breakfast items, others mentioned it could be hotter. Despite a few negative comments, the majority of guests were pleased with the generous breakfast and fantastic staff service.

Dinner
The Damson Dene Hotel offers a wonderful dining experience for guests with the food at both breakfast and dinner being described as fantastic by satisfied customers. The extensive dinner menu covers everything that you could need and the friendly and polite staff make the experience all the more enjoyable. Guests can enjoy a wonderful dinner while looking out at the beautiful garden from the comfort of the bar. While some guests found the choice of menu slightly disappointing or overly fancy, the quality of the food and service was still exceptional according to numerous reviews. However, a few diners found the Xmas dinner, fish and chips or Damson lamb to be underwhelming. Despite this, most guests were pleased with the value for money that the evening meal provided and enjoyed the reasonable bar and food prices. Overall, the Damson Dene Hotel offers a dining experience that is sure to please both the stomach and the wallet.

Rooms
At the Damson Dene Hotel, guests have varied experiences in regards to the rooms. Some guests found the rooms to be excellent, spacious and clean with comfortable beds and plenty of amenities. Family rooms were also spacious, accommodating both guests and their furry friends. However, other guests found the rooms to be small, cramped and outdated with issues such as poor acoustics, small bathrooms and stained carpets. Some also reported allergy issues due to dog hair. The hotel is said to be dated and needing updating in certain areas. Guests enjoyed unique features such as hot tubs and log burners, but some rooms were inconveniently located or had odd layouts. Overall, the hotel staff was pleasant and accommodating, but the room quality varied greatly.

Beds
The Damson Dene Hotel offers a range of bed types to suit every traveler's preferences, including cozy twin rooms and luxurious four poster beds. While some guests found the four poster beds to be a bit overwhelming for the size of their rooms, others raved about the comfort they provided. There were a few complaints about uncomfortable beds or mattresses, but overall many guests were happy with the level of comfort they experienced. It's worth noting that some guests also mentioned seeing beds left in corridors, which may be a reflection of the hotel's housekeeping staff. Despite any inconsistencies with the bedding, the hotel as a whole was praised for its nice atmosphere and friendly, helpful staff. And if you're a fan of breakfast in bed, it seems that the Damson Dene Hotel has got you covered!

Cleanliness
The Damson Dene Hotel boasts beautiful gardens and friendly staff, but unfortunately, the state of cleanliness of the hotel appears to be hit or miss. While some guests report that everything was clean and tidy, others found the leisure facilities to be rundown and dirty, covered in dog hair and in need of more frequent cleanings. Some guests found their rooms and facilities to be clean and comfortable, while others found hair in the shower and dirty marks on the toilet seat. The swimming pool, sauna and steam rooms were reported to be clean by some, but others found the pool and jacuzzi to be dirty and smelling. Overall, while some guests found the cleanliness of the premises to be of excellent standard, others found the whole place to be in need of care and attention.

Staff
The Damson Dene Hotel is renowned for its exceptionally friendly and helpful staff that go above and beyond to ensure guests have a wonderful stay. Many guests repeatedly praised the staff's professionalism and friendliness, describing them as superb, exceptional and first-class. The hotel's restaurant also received high praise with many singling out the fantastic waiters for their outstanding service. Guests particularly appreciated how welcoming and efficient the staff were and how they made them feel special during their stay. Despite a few negative comments, the staff overall made an amazing impression on guests, making their stay memorable and enjoyable. With such a location and high-quality service, it is no surprise that the hotel continues to receive such rave reviews.

Spa
The Damson Dene Hotel is a lovely situated hotel that offers a spa with great facilities. The pool, sauna and steam room are perfect after a day spent hiking in the hills. The atmosphere next to the fireplace in the evening was very nice. The spa treatments were excellent and the massage was much needed. Guests have access to the pool, sauna and steam room throughout their stay which are always clean and well-kept. Some guests felt that the spa could benefit from upgrading or extra cleaning, while others found the spa ok. Overall, the spa facilities were excellent and provided the perfect end to a day at the hotel.

Pool
The Damson Dene Hotel offers a lovely swimming pool for guests to enjoy, although it can get quite crowded with too many people at one time. The leisure club facilities are excellent and guests can enjoy quiet workouts and swims as if they have their own gym and pool. While some guests did not use the pool and leisure facilities, those who did found them to be clean and perfect. However, the pool area is described as basic and the tight schedules can make it difficult to plan the use of the pool with children. Some guests also noted sharp steps in the pool, so it's essential to be cautious. Despite these minor issues, having access to the indoor heated pool, sauna and steam room was a nice added bonus, especially after a day of walking. The hotel grounds are also beautiful, making for a wonderful stay.

Family
The Damson Dene Hotel is a great location for a family getaway or day trips out. One guest felt it was the perfect place to escape the city with their family and dogs for some time off work. The hotel is welcoming of dogs, offering plenty of space for them, which was appreciated by a guest who stayed with their furry friend. Families with children will appreciate the family rooms, which have lots of space for everyone. One child had a lot of fun during their stay. However, a lack of soundproofing in the family rooms resulted in some noise from other guests, including children screaming. Despite this, the hotel was still overall very good for a family stay. Breakfast was a highlight for many guests with a range of cooked food and freshly made croissants available, although some children did not enjoy the runny eggs. Families who stayed found their experience to be a nice one.

3 Star
The Damson Dene Hotel has received mixed reviews with some guests expressing disappointment in the below average quality of the outdated and poor facilities. Although some guests found the rooms satisfactory, others felt that they did not match the 8.1 rating on Booking.com. Additionally, some guests were put off by the number of dogs on the premises and the outdated decor which one guest even compared to Fawlty Towers. However, others were more positive about the hotel, describing it as three star plus and excellent for its rating. Despite this, many felt that the hotel was not good value for money with some guests saying that it was not worth the high price per night, especially as it was situated away from the main lake. Overall, many believed that the hotel requires care and attention to update and refresh the decor.

Rooms with Jacuzzi / Hot-Tub
If you're looking for a luxurious spa experience, the Damson Dene Hotel might be perfect for you. Many of the rooms come equipped with a hot tub or Jacuzzi, which some guests found to be a great addition to their stay. The four-poster room with a Jacuzzi bath was particularly lovely. Guests also had access to private hot tubs, providing a secluded and peaceful setting to relax in.
However, it seems that the cleanliness of the hot tub facilities could be improved upon, as some guests found them to be dirty or smelling unpleasantly. Additionally, some guests noted that the Jacuzzi in the leisure facilities was less than ideal with yellow water and a less-than-pristine environment. Some cabins could have benefited from a canopy over the hot tub, particularly during windy weather. Despite these occasional hiccups, the hot tub experience was generally considered to be a positive one with guests enjoying the beautiful views from their tubs and finding the experience very enjoyable.

Dog Friendly
If you're a dog owner, you'll love the Damson Dene Hotel! This hotel is perfect for those travelling with their furry friends thanks to their dog friendly facilities and services. Not only is the hotel welcoming to dogs, but there are plenty of other pups around for your furry friend to meet. You'll appreciate the ample space available for your dog, who will be treated just as well as you are. There are a few rules and extra fees to keep in mind, including an additional £20 charge for dog cleaning and the possibility of hearing dogs barking in other rooms. But overall, the Damson Dene Hotel is a relaxing and accommodating place for you and your canine companion to stay.
