Former Castle Hotels in Ankeveen

The very first written record of the castle dates back to the 12th century. Said to have been built by a knight, the castle remained in his family's possession for some hundreds of years and then came to the hands of various aristocratic families.

The original castle was built around the 13th century and then rebuilt again in the 16th century and was named Slot Assumburg. Before becoming a hostel it was used as a residence for nobility and a detention centre for war prisoners.
