Saxony Saddle & Trout stands out as a tranquil sanctuary set within the breathtaking natural beauty of the Midlands, not far from the N3 highway. The serene environment, characterized by picturesque landscapes, rolling hills and majestic valleys, offers a perfect escape from city life. Spectacular mountain views, fresh countryside air and breathtaking sunsets contribute to a charming retreat ideal for rest and relaxation. The friendly staff and well-maintained facilities further enhance the overall experience.
Breakfast at the resort has its strengths and weaknesses. While the quality of the food is often described as great, the dining experience can be marred by service delays, limited options and inconsistent responsiveness to dietary requirements. Despite these issues, the restaurant's ambiance, especially the scenic views, is a highlight for many guests.
The dining experience for dinner receives similar mixed reviews. Guests praise the food quality and the use of fresh, locally sourced ingredients. However, a limited menu, long wait times and instances of unavailability detract from the overall experience. The restaurant's clean and pleasant atmosphere is appreciated, but its role as both a dining and entertainment area may not suit everyone's preference for a quiet meal.
Accommodations at Saxony Saddle & Trout are generally clean, spacious and comfortable. Many guests find their rooms to be well-equipped with amenities like full DSTV, indoor fireplaces and well-stocked kitchens. However, there are some reports of outdated furniture and minor maintenance needs. Despite these issues, the overall consensus highlights the spaciousness and comfort of the units, making for a satisfying stay.
Cleanliness throughout the resort appears inconsistent. While many guests find their accommodations clean and well-maintained, others report issues with dusty rooms, dirty bathrooms and incomplete cleaning services. The beautiful and serene environment, however, often compensates for these inconsistencies.
The staff at the resort receive mostly positive feedback. Guests frequently commend the friendly and helpful demeanor of the team with particular praise for individual staff members who made their stay memorable. Some concerns about unfriendliness and poor service were noted, suggesting the need for better training in certain areas.
Free Wi-Fi is only available in the restaurant and lobby areas, which some guests find limiting. There is a strong hope for expanded Wi-Fi access throughout the property to enhance convenience and comfort.
The spa at Saxony Saddle & Trout is a highlight for many guests with quality treatments and excellent service. The hot tub and massage services are particularly appreciated, although some maintenance issues were noted. Overall, the spa experience is a pleasant and relaxing part of the stay.
The pool facilities are generally well-received, especially by children who enjoy the slide and varying pool sizes. However, cleanliness and temperature issues have been reported with some guests wishing for heated options.
The tennis courts offer a pleasant diversion but could benefit from refurbishment and better cleanliness. Other activities like cycling, croquet and bingo add to the resort's appeal for active guests.
Parking is ample, convenient and secure, although occasional muddy conditions were mentioned. The resort's wide range of family activities makes it an ideal destination for a family getaway, offering enjoyment for both children and adults.
Overall, Saxony Saddle & Trout offers a beautiful and relaxing retreat with a mix of natural beauty, comfortable accommodations and a variety of activities, despite some areas needing improvement.
