Made with locally-sourced materials such as stones and volcanic kissira, the complex boasts prominent arches and was outfitted with modern amenities of the time, including comprehensive water storage and agricultural land within its walls.

Although the 1956 earthquake damaged the property significantly, the lower part survived and was later refurbished.
