Hotel Alter Wolf in Wolfsburg receives overall positive feedback from its guests, particularly praising its prime location. The hotel's serene and lush green surroundings near Wolfsburg Castle and its expansive park offer a tranquil retreat, while still being conveniently close to key landmarks like the Autostadt, Volkswagen Arena and the city center. Guests appreciate the central yet peaceful setting, free parking and easy access to recreational spots like the Allersee.
The breakfast at Hotel Alter Wolf is another highlight. Guests often commend the good, plentiful and value-for-money offerings, including fresh eggs, a variety of cheeses, cold cuts and delicious bread. The coffee and local products enhance the cosy and authentic breakfast experience. While some guests noted a desire for more fruit and vegetable options, the overall service and quality of the breakfast are well-received.
However, the absence of an operational restaurant for dinner is a significant downside. Many guests expressed regret over this situation, advising future visitors to plan alternative dining options outside the hotel.
Room reviews present a mixed picture. On the positive side, the rooms are spacious, clean and often feature large, comfortable setups. However, outdated decor and worn-out furnishings detract from the overall experience. Guests report issues such as stained carpets, cracked tiles, musty smells and a lack of modern amenities. Despite these drawbacks, the cleanliness and effort of the housekeeping staff are frequently commended.
Cleanliness feedback also reflects both strengths and areas for improvement. While individual rooms are often clean and functional, communal areas and some furniture are described as in need of renovation. The efforts of the cleaning staff are recognized, although structural updates are essential to enhance the guest experience.
The hotel staff consistently receive high praise for their friendliness, helpfulness and efficiency. Despite occasional logistical issues such as the absence of on-site staff during specific hours, the overall service creates a welcoming atmosphere.
WiFi service receives mixed reviews. Some guests find it excellent, while others report poor or inconsistent connectivity, particularly in the rooms. Improvement in this area could enhance the overall guest experience.
Families find Hotel Alter Wolf accommodating with spacious rooms that provide ample space for children. Although some family-specific facilities are lacking, the hotel's environment and size of the rooms make it a good choice for families.
Bed quality varies significantly with many guests finding the beds comfortable and conducive to a good night's sleep, while others report issues with creakiness and worn-out mattresses.
Overall, Hotel Alter Wolf offers a charming, convenient stay with strong positives such as location, breakfast and staff service, but it also has areas that could benefit from updates and improvements, particularly regarding dining availability, room amenities and WiFi service.
