Hotel Surya, Kaiser Palace enjoys a commendable reputation for its overall ambiance, delightful culinary offerings and hospitable staff, making it a solid choice for travelers seeking both comfort and tranquility in Varanasi.
Situated in a beautiful, green area of the cantonment, the hotel's location has received high praise for offering a serene escape from the city's hustle and bustle. The proximity to the Varanasi railway station and accessible public transport make it convenient for exploring the ghats and other key sites, despite the slight distance from central river areas and the Kashi Vishwanath temple.
The breakfast experience at Hotel Surya is particularly impressive with a vast variety of options and a charming palace-like setting. Guests appreciate the freshness of the dishes, the daily variety and the vegetarian and eggless bakery selections. However, some feedback indicates a desire for more diversity and higher quality in certain items.
Dinner at the Royale Cantone Restaurant often stands out as a highlight of the guest experience, featuring a wide range of Indian and continental dishes. The cozy ambiance, reasonable pricing and excellent food quality enhance the dining experience with many guests pointing out that evening meals were a memorable part of their stay.
When it comes to rooms, the hotel offers a mix of spacious, clean and comfortable accommodations, especially in the renovated sections. However, there are inconsistencies with some rooms appearing outdated, musty and in need of maintenance. The cleanliness of the rooms and the property is adequate for many, though there are notable mentions of dirty linens and poorly maintained bathrooms.
The staff at Hotel Surya are frequently commended for their friendliness, kindness and helpful attitude, contributing significantly to a pleasant stay. Despite some operational inefficiencies and occasional lapses in hospitality training, the overall guest experience is positively influenced by the welcoming demeanor of the staff.
The hotel’s aesthetic appeal, historical ambiance and beautiful surroundings are often praised, although the WiFi service leaves much to be desired. Guests have consistently reported unreliable and slow internet connectivity, which poses an inconvenience, especially for those requiring a stable connection.
In terms of bedding, while many guests find the beds comfortable and clean, there are consistent complaints about uncomfortable mattresses, worn-out linens and inconsistent maintenance. The need for more frequent changing of bed sheets and towels, as well as updates to bedding quality, are recurring themes.
Overall, Hotel Surya, Kaiser Palace impresses with its beautiful location, delightful breakfast and dinner experiences and friendly staff. However, improvements in room maintenance, cleanliness and WiFi services could significantly enhance the guest experience.
