Very Good
Location
'The Swan Hotel and Spa' is situated in a picturesque and secluded location that is perfect for those wanting peace and quiet or for those who enjoy country walks. The hotel is easily accessible from the motorway and is a great base for touring the southern parts of the Lake District. The outdoor jacuzzi and lovely spa contribute to a relaxing and unwinding stay. The hotel offers stunning views of the river and is just a short walk away from the slipway for water sports enthusiasts. Although limited walks are possible directly from the hotel, there is a public footpath up the hill behind the hotel. The southern part of The Lakes is not as scenic as the more central and northern parts and most places require a drive to get to. However, guests still found the location of the hotel lovely and convenient for exploring the area. The hotel is smart and comfortable with lovely views, making it a great value for money stay.

Breakfast
The Swan Hotel and Spa offers delicious breakfast options that vary from tasty salmon and eggs to vegetarian full English breakfast (even though it's not on the menu). While some guests were a little disappointed that their meals weren't hot enough, the food is generally of good quality and is served in a timely manner. Unfortunately, some guests experienced a slow service and had to remind staff about their orders on more than one occasion. The selection of food is great and made to order, but some guests feel that buffet-style breakfast would be better. Evening meals were also enjoyed by most guests, although some felt the prices were a bit steep. The restaurant menu could be improved for picky eaters. Overall, breakfasts were delicious and fresh with a great choice of food made to order.

Dinner
Guests have mixed opinions about the dining experience at The Swan Hotel and Spa. Some found the pub menu limited and the restaurant expensive, while others enjoyed their evening meals in the bar, which were good and reasonably priced. However, there were complaints about slow service, staff not knowing the drinks menu and high prices for average food. On the other hand, some guests raved about the exceptional and outstanding food, describing it as A1 and amazing, especially in the pub where staff were friendly and helpful. Overall, opinions were divided on the quality of the food and the value for money with some finding it overpriced for what it was.

Rooms
The rooms at The Swan Hotel and Spa offer both comfort and luxury; some guests report lovely upgraded rooms with excellent decor and spacious layouts. However, there were some complaints about the cleanliness of the rooms with some guests finding stains on bedding or hair in the bathroom from previous occupants. The lack of amenities such as phones or fridges in some rooms was also noted. Sound insulation could also be improved; some guests reported noise from adjoining rooms or corridors. However, most guests found the beds to be very comfortable and enjoyed modern amenities like a nice bathroom and shower, good wardrobe space and a cosy feel. Some guests were disappointed by the views from their rooms, while others reported lovely garden or river views. Overall, guests found the hotel to be generally clean and well decorated with modern, spacious and warm rooms.

Beds
Guests of The Swan Hotel and Spa have had mixed reviews regarding the beds at the hotel. Many guests mentioned that the beds were comfortable with some describing them as very comfortable, large and super comfortable. However, a few guests found the beds to be hard or wobbly and not comfortable. Some guests also mentioned that the pillows were not very comfortable, although good quality. Despite this, guests generally found the rooms to look lovely, cosy and warm with the bedroom being very nice and the decor being lovely. A few guests did mention dirty bedsheets in the room, but many found the hotel to be very clean. Overall, most guests enjoyed their stay, appreciating the hotel's beautiful location, good food and great spa in addition to the comfortable beds and pillows.

Cleanliness
Based on guest reviews, The Swan Hotel and Spa seems to be a beautiful, clean and immaculate hotel. The building itself is pristine and the staff are friendly. However, some guests have expressed concern that more attention could be paid to cleaning, especially in the rooms where they have noticed stains on bed throws and dirty carpets. The hotel spa is consistently clean and relaxing, while some of the leisure facilities such as the pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna, are a bit tired and run-down. Generally though, most guests have reported an excellent room, complete with a super large and comfortable bed with a nice shower which were both exceptionally clean, although cobwebs have been spotted in some rooms. In terms of service, some guests have criticised the staff for being slow and unorganised with dirty crockery and glasses found on occasions. In summary, while most guests have found The Swan Hotel and Spa to be lovely and clean, there have been some concerns about attention to detail when it comes to cleaning in certain areas of the hotel.

Staff
The staff at The Swan Hotel and Spa received overwhelmingly positive reviews from guests with many citing their helpfulness, friendliness and excellent service. While some guests felt that some staff lacked organization or customer service skills, overall the staff were described as polite, accommodating and efficient in their roles. Guests particularly praised the spa staff for their exceptional service with one guest mentioning the wonderful experience they had with a staff member named Kelly. Despite some minor issues with staff communication or service, most guests felt that the well-trained and friendly staff helped to make their stay at The Swan Hotel and Spa exceptional.

Spa
The Swan Hotel and Spa is the perfect destination for a spa getaway. The spa facilities are excellent, including the outdoor spa which adds to the relaxing atmosphere. The Thermal spa is a must-do with reviewers raving about its quality and recommending to book in advance due to high demand. The spa was found to be lovely and well-maintained by guests and many praised the range of facilities on offer. The heated pool, outdoor sauna and large jacuzzi with views of the hills were particularly enjoyable. Some reviewers claimed the spa was out of this world, while others simply found it wonderful and relaxing. The Himalayan salt treatment was mentioned as being good, but some guests found the spa to be overpriced. Correspondence before booking regarding spa access was also suggested by some customers. Despite this, many found the spa experience to be excellent, tipping it as a highlight of the hotel. However, some reviewers expressed their dissatisfaction at the spa's busyness, suggesting that the hotel enforce its two-hour rule for spa access more stringently. Nonetheless, it was generally agreed that the spa was a great experience and excellent value for money.

Pool
The Swan Hotel and Spa offers a range of leisure facilities including a swimming pool, gym and spa. While the pool is good and clean, it can get busy with non-residents causing mayhem, especially when children are unsupervised. The spa facilities were lovely, but may lack a sense of privacy and exclusivity due to overcrowding. However, the infinity pool is described as lovely by some guests. The hotel pool is closed at times due to maintenance issues such as chlorine problems, disappointing some guests. The towels provided for the pool are small and basic free facilities like the pool and sauna are also small and basic. Guests have also complained that the pool is visible to the public in the foyer and that the leisure facilities can be tired-looking and run-down. Despite these negatives, some guests appreciate the pool and gym as an absolute bonus. However, there were some issues with kids being allowed in the pool at all times and parents hoping for a child-free experience are limited to specific times.

Family
The Swan Hotel and Spa offers some child-friendly amenities with the added bonus of being dog-friendly too. Families can enjoy a range of activities to keep occupied in bad weather, although some guests expressed concern over poorly supervised children running amok in the swimming pool and lobby areas. Visitors with furry friends, on the other hand, were more than happy with the hotel's welcoming attitude towards dogs, providing towels and even a bowl for their four-legged companions. However, some guests also reported that there were too many hordes of kids causing a racket at night, making it hard for those seeking a romantic dinner or peaceful rest. Despite some staffing issues, the luxury accommodations nevertheless managed to feel relaxed and family-friendly at the same time, giving families a perfect setting to celebrate special occasions such as a New Year birthday break with happy humans and a delighted dog. But for those wanting more variety beyond the hotel premises, there seems to be nothing else within walking distance worth exploring.

4 Star
The Swan Hotel and Spa is a great choice for your next vacation with its fantastic facilities and restaurant that received high praise from guests. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The hotel is in a good location that makes it easy to visit the lakes. However, some guests mentioned that the chairs need repairs and the modern decor doesn't fit well with a 300-year-old building. Guests also noticed some hidden costs that they weren't expecting, making them hesitate to return. While some guests were not impressed with the supposed superior room, overall, the hotel's price was very good, especially for the exceptional service and experience provided. Despite a few criticisms, we would recommend considering The Swan Hotel and Spa for your next trip.
