The hotel is a combination of French architecture, style and antique furniture.
The establishment was built in the 12th century as a Cistercian abbey and for many years it was home to many monks who occupied Burgundy at the time. Throughout the centuries, the abbey suffered many destructions and renovations, during which the monks were forced to leave its premises. In the 19th century, the Baron d’Oissel renovated the abbey once more, this time giving its buildings a neo-gothic style, closer to what it looks like today. After being used as a place for spiritual retreat for many decades, in 2005 it was sold to an English couple who decided to turn it into a hotel.
Visitors can discover the prestigious vineyards of Burgundy, wine villages and towns and participate in private wine tasting sessions. The lovers of wine can also visit Beaune, the capital of wines of Burgundy, that houses numerous wine cellars. Each year at the famous Hospices de Beaune there is a wine auction attracting buyers from the whole world.
The hotel used to be a place where many pilgrims stayed in. It used to be a place for religious practices. During the renovation, ancients frescoes with huge historical value had been discovered.
