Guests have mixed opinions on the breakfast at Lusty Beg Island with some describing it as outstanding, lovely and scrumptious, while others found it to be poor, reheated and with limited selections. Despite these contrasting experiences, the food quality at the hotel was described as excellent with good portions and presentation throughout the day. While there were some complaints about the service being slow, staff were overall described as helpful and friendly. Some guests recommend trying the porridge with strawberries and raspberries, while others suggest improvements such as more choices on the food menus and better components in the Full Irish breakfast.

Dinner
The food at Lusty Beg Island is exceptional and guests have praised both the restaurant and bar options. Breakfast and dinner are particularly outstanding and the restaurant food is, overall, great. Staff are also consistently mentioned as friendly and attentive while facilities are excellent. However, some reviewers have noted issues with service, particularly long waits for drinks or cutlery and some find the menu lacking in choice or overpriced. One reviewer notes the menu is the same for lunch and dinner. Despite this, the food remains a highlight of stays at Lusty Beg Island with many guests describing it as fantastic and delicious. Overall, Lusty Beg Island is recommended for those seeking a nice quiet break with great food and a lovely setting.

Rooms
Lusty Beg Island offers a variety of accommodation options ranging from lovely lodges to run-down cabins. While some guests found the rooms to be exceptional and comfortable with great beds, others found them to be basic and old-fashioned. The decor in double guest rooms was lovely and some rooms had a beautiful view. However, some guests reported cleanliness issues, such as spider webs, cobwebs and dead flies. Some rooms were too warm and the TV was small. Some rooms lacked modern amenities, such as fridges or air conditioning. Despite these issues, many guests found the rooms to be cosy and functional. The buildings need modernisation and some guests complained of poor communication. Overall, the accommodation was peaceful, spacious and suitable for families.

Beds
Lusty Beg Island has received mixed reviews on the quality of their beds. While some guests found the beds comfortable and perfect for their family of five, others were disappointed with the quality of their sleep. Some even described the beds as the worst they have ever slept in. Many guests enjoyed their stay overall, despite the uncomfortable beds. Some complaints were related to mattress firmness, room temperature and dampness. However, many guests found the rooms to be lovely and expressed their enjoyment of their stay.

Cleanliness
The cleanliness of Lusty Beg Island received mixed reviews from guests. While some described their rooms as spotless and lovely, others reported unclean areas such as dust and grime in corners, cobwebs on windows and in bathrooms and even mold in one bathroom. Some guests expressed concern over the common areas not being kept clean, including dirty plates and trash everywhere. Despite these complaints, many still found the accommodation amazing and relaxing, praising the well-done houses used as rooms and the spacious, comfortable and quiet lodgings. The spa/pool changing area and gents changing room for the pool were reported to be in need of improvement when it comes to cleanliness. Overall, the accommodation was described as basic but clean and comfortable.

Staff
Lusty Beg Island boasts a fantastic team of staff who are friendly, helpful and accommodating. The reception desk is particularly praised for their helpfulness, while Lisa is noted as being very accommodating. The restaurant staff, however, received mixed reviews with some guests noting poor training and a lack of attentiveness. The bar staff also received criticism for being unfriendly and uninterested in serving guests. Despite some hiccups, the majority of guests found the staff to be exemplary, going above and beyond to ensure that their stay was enjoyable. The island is home to ticks, so guests with children or pets are cautioned to be vigilant. Spa
Lusty Beg Island offers a mixed bag when it comes to their spa, according to guest reviews. Some found the spa disappointing, noting the lack of a sauna or steam room, while others found it to be amazing with well-run staff, lovely massages and a great spa experience. However, a few guests were unhappy with their facials. There is no hot tub or steam room in the spa, but the seaweed bath was lovely. Some guests were frustrated by the price of the spa and the fact that it was closed during their stay but others guarantee access to the spa. The ferry breaking down caused some guests to miss out on the full use of the spa, but they still loved the place and would return for the food at the spa's restaurant. Many felt the spa had room for development but overall, it was a lovely experience.

Pool
The swimming pool at Lusty Beg Island has received mixed reviews from guests. While some enjoyed its beauty and found it lovely for a morning swim or fabulous when combined with a spa experience, others were disappointed with its limited opening times and conflicting access. The cold temperature and dark setting of the pool were also mentioned by visitors. Families with kids appreciated the variety of activities available, but some had concerns about the cleanliness of the gents' changing room or felt that the pool restrictions made it hard to fully enjoy. Overall, the pool is just one of the many facilities that Lusty Beg Island offers to its guests and its usability may depend on personal preferences and expectations.

Family

The Fairy Trail is a particular hit with the younger ones, while older children can choose from a variety of activities on offer. Lodges are spacious and comfortable, making it a great choice for families. The boat crossing to the island adds an exciting touch for kids. However, some reviews mentioned a lack of children's amenities and facilities for under 5s could be improved. Dogs are even allowed to join their owners while they eat. Although there is an extra cost for the pet-friendly services, many guests rave about the amenities available for their dogs. The island offers various rooms that permit dogs and visitors love how the island is designed to be pet-friendly. However, guests should be cautious when it comes to ticks, as they seem to be quite common in the area.
