Summary of reviews
Summarized by AI
Cedars House Hotel offers a convenient and budget-friendly accommodation choice for travelers, with its strategic location near East Croydon train station providing easy access to London's public transport network. While the surrounding area may not be the most attractive, the proximity to a 10-minute walk from the town center, which includes amenities like Tesco and Lidl, alongside free parking, adds to its appeal for those willing to trade city center proximity for cost-effectiveness.
One of the hotel's highlights is its breakfast, which is included in the room price and offers a simple yet abundant selection of cereals, toast, coffee, and teas. This ensures great value and provides essential fuel for the day, particularly appreciated by budget-conscious guests.
The rooms at Cedars House Hotel are often praised for their spaciousness and Victorian charm, characterized by high ceilings and large windows. Cleanliness is generally commended, with many guests enjoying tidy and well-organized rooms, comfortable beds, and basic but functional facilities including a kettle for tea and coffee. This straightforward approach contributes to a solid value proposition for a comfortable overnight stay.
While there are some inconsistencies in cleanliness, particularly in the common areas and shared bathrooms that are criticized for being old and neglected, certain rooms are well-maintained with quality bedding and amenities. Improving the upkeep of shared spaces could enhance customer satisfaction.
The staff at Cedars House Hotel are frequently recognized for their friendliness and efforts to accommodate guests, with the owner often noted for offering a warm reception. However, mixed reviews regarding professionalism and communication suggest room for improvement in these areas.
Bedding receives mixed reviews, with many guests finding the beds comfortable, although issues like instability and worn-out mattresses are occasionally mentioned. Overall, Cedars House Hotel provides a cost-effective and comfortable stay with room for enhancement in cleanliness and professionalism.
