With its convenient location, it's easy to get into the city centre either by car or by taking the bus with the bus stop conveniently located right outside the hotel. The hotel building itself is also quite lovely, set in peaceful and quiet grounds with plenty of nice walks to enjoy. There are also plenty of great restaurants and bars to enjoy right on-site and the hotel's spa is the perfect place to unwind after a busy day exploring the city. Whether you're looking for a relaxing break or an action-packed holiday, the Parsonage Hotel & Spa is the perfect choice.

Breakfast
Guests have mixed reviews regarding the breakfast at The Parsonage Hotel & Spa. Some found it excellent, delicious, sumptuous and fantastic while others found it poor and disappointing. The breakfast buffet had plenty of choices with fresh and presentable products, but some items were overcooked. Guests could help themselves to whatever they wanted and the labeled food was of good quality. The Fat Abbot also served good food and an excellent fish pie. However, some guests found the breakfast experience chaotic with long waits to be seated and served. The buffet area was too small and run short of bacon and sausages, which created a queue. Despite this, the staff was friendly and cheerful and the pastries and coffee were particularly good. Overall, guests had a pleasant experience with a very good breakfast selection with something for everyone.

Dinner
Guest reviews of the dinner options at The Parsonage Hotel & Spa are mixed. While some guests enjoyed good food and a lovely ambiance at the on-site pub, The Fat Abbot, others were disappointed with limited and uninspired menu options, below average food quality and cold or overcooked dishes. Some guests also had to rely on the neighboring pub for evening meals, as the hotel provided no priority booking and availability was limited. However, those who enjoyed meals at The Fat Abbot praised the quality and variety of the menu and found the £30 dinner allowance provided by the hotel sufficient for a three course meal. Overall, guests had a mixed experience with the dinner options at the hotel, but those who enjoyed their meals found them to be of good quality.

Rooms
The Parsonage Hotel & Spa provides a mixed bag of experiences when it comes to its rooms, according to guest reviews. While some guests found the rooms to be lovely, clean, spacious and comfortable, others were disappointed with the outdated and tired decor, old and uncomfortable beds and tired-looking furniture. Many guests also reported noise issues from nearby pubs or thin walls, making their stay less than peaceful. Some guests found the rooms to be immaculately clean, while others noticed cobwebs, mold patches and peeling wallpaper. Additionally, some guests pointed out maintenance issues such as broken tiles, peeling paint and malfunctioning bathtub plugs. However, some guests appreciated the historic charm of the hotel and the well-appointed rooms in the newer part. While some guests found the hotel to be a bit far from the spa or lacking in atmosphere, most guests reported good service and friendly staff. Overall, the room quality was a mixed bag with some guests finding it excellent and others in need of updates and renovations.

Beds
Guests who have stayed at The Parsonage Hotel & Spa have varying opinions about the beds offered at the hotel. While some found their beds incredibly comfortable and slept well, others had difficult nights due to the beds being too hard or uncomfortable. Some guests pointed out that the heating was on high all night, causing them to feel overheated and unable to sleep comfortably. There were mixed opinions about the firmness of the mattresses with some guests finding them extremely uncomfortable and others enjoying the firmness. Some guests noted that they had clean and warm rooms with lovely big beds, while others found the twin beds too small for their liking. One consistent theme was the need for the hotel to replace some of the mattresses as they were too hard or uncomfortable. Despite the varying opinions, it's clear that the rooms are spacious and clean and the beds are comfortable for some guests.

Cleanliness
The Parsonage Hotel & Spa is a lovely hotel that offers a nice spa experience. Most guests were impressed with the cleanliness of the hotel, describing the rooms as immaculate, very clean and spotless. They found the spa to be warm and clean, adding to their overall comfort. Despite this, some guests did encounter issues with cleanliness. Some found the rooms to be outdated, shabby and smelt musty, while others noted cobwebs, mould, dusty areas and dirty windows. Some reported a lack of attention to detail in the cleaning process and encountered issues such as dirty curtains and stained kettles. Overall, while some guests encountered issues with cleanliness, the majority had a positive experience at the hotel with clean and comfortable rooms.

Staff
The staff at The Parsonage Hotel & Spa are an important aspect of guests' experience and many reviews mention friendly and helpful staff members. Although there were a few instances of staff being unwelcoming or unprofessional, most guests had positive interactions with the receptionists and restaurant, spa and hotel staff. Some guests even praised specific individuals who went above and beyond to make their stay memorable. The breakfast staff were particularly delightful and one guest described their spa treatment as heavenly. Overall, guests found staff to be courteous and polite, although there were some issues with untrained or argumentative waiting staff. Despite these isolated incidents, most guests agreed that the staff were a highlight of their stay, providing superb customer service and welcoming guests with open arms.

Spa
The Parsonage Hotel & Spa is a lovely hotel with outstanding spa facilities. Guests loved the spa area and the range of facilities it offered such as the sauna, steam room, aromatherapy room and salt inhalation room. The pool was also a highlight with some describing it as "gorgeously warm". The spa was well-equipped and flexible to suit different needs, however, some equipment was reported as out of order. Overall, the spa and staff were fantastic, providing guests with a relaxing experience. Some guests noted that the spa was great for the price, but hiring gowns seemed somewhat unreasonable. Nevertheless, the spa treatments were reasonably priced and enjoyable. Guests also appreciated the fact that the great spa facilities were included in their overnight price. Some suggested avoiding the spa if seeking multiple body treatments, as it can get busy. The spa was described as one of the best ones some guests had ever visited. However, it was noted that the aromatherapy room smelt damp and the jacuzzi was too hot. In terms of accessibility, the pool and spa were a short walk outside the main building. Other spa facilities were located in a different building. All-in-all, if you're looking for a perfect Christmas gift or a relaxing break, the Parsonage Hotel & Spa is a great option.

Pool
The Parsonage Hotel & Spa offers fantastic pool and spa facilities with guests raving about the lovely spa and large gym, as well as the pool, jacuzzi, steam room, salt room, sauna and aromatherapy room. While the pool area can get busy during the day due to visitor spa days, guests have still loved the gorgeously warm, heated indoor pool. Some have noted the pool is huge and blissfully child-free, but it's important to be cautious of safety hazards, such as one guest's foot getting caught in a pool filter. Unfortunately, there have been some occasions where the pool has been unavailable due to staff mishaps or broken equipment. Overall, guests agree that the pool and spa are excellent additions to their stay at The Parsonage Hotel & Spa.

4 Star
The Parsonage Hotel & Spa is a lovely hotel that offers excellent spa facilities for guests to enjoy. However, some guests feel that although the hotel has been rated as a four star establishment, it needs improvement to truly deserve this title. Some guests found the amenities to be lacking, particularly the "superior" aspect of having a four poster bed. Despite this, the facilities such as the pool and gym were seen as excellent for a four star hotel. Although the hotel has a history that feels four star, some guests felt that today it falls more into the two star category. Overall, The Parsonage Hotel & Spa offers good services and facilities for those seeking a four star experience.

Luxury
The Parsonage Hotel & Spa is a beautiful hotel situated in a lovely setting that many guests have described as stunning. From the moment you arrive, you'll be impressed by everything this hotel has to offer. The rooms are beautiful and clean and many guests have said that everything about the hotel is 5*. Despite being reasonably priced, this hotel offers great facilities including an excellent spa that guests have thoroughly enjoyed during their stay. The food provided at this hotel is also top-notch and many guests have praised the nice facilities available. Although some guests mentioned that they did not experience any luxury touches, the overall consensus is that this is a lovely hotel with beautiful rooms perfect for a luxurious stay.
