The Mercure Blackburn Dunkenhalgh Hotel & Spa is a great spot for a few days away. It's a brilliant find, although some guests question the hotel's four-star status, considering some of the basic facilities and services on offer. Some rooms could use a little updating with guests reporting worn and dated decor. There have also been concerns about the comfort of the beds with reports of slipping when getting out of bed. However, the hotel does have a spa, which is a nice touch for those who like to be pampered. Guests suggest that the hotel is more of a three-star offering and that the pricing could be better. One tip for those visiting in colder weather is to check the heating in the room, as some guests report having to use an electric heater upon arrival. Overall, however, it's a nice hotel and with a little maintenance and service improvement, it could be on its way to deserving its four-star rating.
