Guests also commend the service, describing the staff as excellent, gentle, and efficient, which complements the overall breakfast experience. While the quality of the breakfast is generally held in high regard, a few reviews mention some areas for improvement, such as the need for more healthy options or an adjustment in value for money. Overall, the breakfast at Mirage Colombo seems to be a satisfying start to the day for most, offering good food and service amidst a picturesque setting.

Dinner

Mirage Colombo offers a dining experience that delights guests with its impressive selection of à la carte options and appetizing buffet dinners. In addition to flavorful dishes, the hotel enhances the dining experience with live music, creating a memorable atmosphere for dinner. The hotel staff contributes positively to the experience, being described as friendly and efficient, ensuring quick room service with generous portions of tasty food. While one review noted an issue at lunch, the overall feedback emphasizes the excellence of the meals and the pleasant service at the hotel's restaurant.

Rooms

Mirage Colombo offers a delightful experience with its rooms, which are consistently praised for their spaciousness. Many guests have noted the generous size, making them ideal for families or couples seeking comfort and room to relax. The hotel is located right by the sea, offering stunning panoramic views of the Indian Ocean from the rooms' windows and balconies. This feature has been highlighted as a standout aspect, providing guests with a serene and picturesque setting during their stay. Cleanliness is another strong point, with numerous guests mentioning the tidy and well-maintained condition of the rooms. The modern amenities present ensure a comfortable and convenient stay, complemented by comfortable beds and efficient air conditioning. The location of the hotel is central, allowing for easy access to both the city and the beautiful marine drive. Additionally, attentive staff contribute positively to the overall experience, being noted for their helpfulness and dedication to guest satisfaction. While the majority of reviews are positive, there are a few areas mentioned for improvement. Some guests reported issues with maintenance, such as broken A/C controllers and smaller bathrooms that were not adequately cleaned. Nonetheless, the overarching sentiment suggests that Mirage Colombo provides excellent value with its massive rooms, captivating ocean views, and courteous service, making it a favorable option for travelers visiting Colombo.

Beds

Mirage Colombo offers a varied experience when it comes to the comfort of its beds, with many guests appreciating the comfortable beds and additional pillows that contribute to a restful night's sleep. Some visitors also mention the great air conditioning and the lovely sea view from comfy armchairs as part of their positive experience. The spacious arrangement with two double beds is noted as a great setup, enhancing the stay for those traveling with family or friends. While most guests find the beds comfortable and sufficient for a peaceful sleep, there are some who report issues such as firmness leading to discomfort. Cleanliness of bed sheets and covers does not seem consistent, with occasional mentions of dirty covers. Overall, for those considering value for money, Mirage Colombo provides a satisfactory bedding experience, with room for improvement in certain areas.

Cleanliness

Mirage Colombo offers a mixed experience when it comes to cleanliness. While many guests appreciate the spacious and clean rooms, noting the modern amenities and the beautiful ocean views, other areas of the hotel seem to fall short. The bathrooms, in particular, receive consistent criticism for not meeting cleanliness standards, with issues such as mold, unpleasant odors, and outdated facilities. Common areas and some rooms are reported to be well-maintained, but there are several mentions of an old and run-down feel throughout the hotel. Some guests also experience discomfort due to bad smells, particularly on certain floors and in corridors. Despite these issues, the hotel staff is often described as friendly and attentive, and rooms are frequently noted as being tidy upon guests' return each evening. However, the overall maintenance of the building seems to contribute to a sense of neglect, suggesting the property could benefit from an update and more consistent cleaning standards.

Staff

At Mirage Colombo, the guest experience is greatly enhanced by the dedicated and attentive staff. Visitors frequently praise the team for their friendliness, warmth, and professionalism that starts the moment they arrive. The young reception staff are highlighted for their friendly demeanor and eagerness to assist. Guests note the consistently positive attitude and politeness of the entire team, with many describing the staff as exceptional and among the best they have encountered. The staff's commitment to service is evident in their willingness to fulfill guests' requests quickly and efficiently. The restaurant staff, in particular, stand out for their gentle and efficient service, making dining a pleasant experience. The emphasis on a warm welcome and continuous attentive service throughout guests’ stays is frequently mentioned, contributing to the overall excellent service reputation of the hotel. While most feedback is positive, a few reviews point out areas for improvement, particularly in the training and competence of front office staff. Nevertheless, the overall consensus among guests is that the team at Mirage Colombo is both friendly and supportive, creating a welcoming atmosphere that encourages visitors to return.

Wi-Fi

When it comes to staying connected at Mirage Colombo, experiences are mixed, with opinions highlighting both ends of the spectrum. Some guests praise the hotel for its high-speed Wi-Fi, describing the internet as super speed and noting excellent connectivity within spacious rooms. These positive remarks indicate that, at its best, Mirage Colombo can provide a powerful digital lifeline for tech-savvy travelers. However, a considerable number of reviews point out concerns regarding the consistency and availability of Wi-Fi throughout the hotel. Many guests experienced poor connectivity, with some describing the internet as nearly non-functional, particularly on higher floors like the eighth floor or in areas outside the rooms, such as dining spaces. Issues ranged from slow speeds where even basic apps took ages to load, to prolonged periods without any internet access at all. The inconsistent performance suggests that while some might enjoy seamless surfing, others could find themselves digitally stranded during their stay. In summary, while Mirage Colombo shows potential with its Wi-Fi infrastructure, it appears that improvements are needed to ensure a consistently reliable internet experience for all guests, making it essential for prospective visitors to manage expectations when planning their stay.

Pool

Mirage Colombo's swimming pool stands out as a gem for guests seeking leisure and scenic beauty. The pool, perched on the third floor, offers breathtaking views of the ocean, making it a delightful spot to unwind. Many reviewers emphasize the pool's role as a highlight of their stay, describing it as nice, clean, and magnificent, with some catching the colorful sunset over the infinity edge. Guests appreciate the impeccable ocean vistas coupled with superb service and friendly staff, ensuring a pleasant experience by the poolside. Despite some comments about the pool's size and occasional noise from traffic, it remains a popular attraction for its relaxing ambiance and lovely temperature. The pool provides a satisfying opportunity for relaxation, though it's noted as less suitable for children and limited for those looking to swim laps. Overall, the pool area complements the hotel's offerings, enhancing the value for money experienced by guests, especially with the delightful views that are not to be missed.

Beach

Nestled right across from the ocean, Mirage Colombo offers a prime location for those seeking a picturesque beach setting. Guests consistently praise the breathtaking views from the hotel rooms, with many highlighting the refreshing and superb ocean vistas that enhance their stay. The beach, situated just a short walk across the road, presents a clean and inviting atmosphere for leisurely strolls. However, swimming enthusiasts might find the high waves challenging, making it less ideal for a swim. Despite this, the proximity to the beach and the stunning sea views remain significant draws for visitors. The hotel's location, with its unbroken views of the ocean, truly heightens the overall experience.

4 Star

Mirage Colombo offers a blend of comfort and hospitality, providing guests with a welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff that make for a pleasant stay. Though it is an older hotel, it competes favorably among similar establishments in Colombo, making it a viable option for budget-conscious travelers seeking a four-star experience. However, some guests noted discrepancies between expectations and reality, citing issues such as room reservation problems and unmet standards typically associated with a four-star rating. Despite these challenges, the hotel still holds potential for improvement and can be an acceptable choice for those prioritizing affordability and service above luxury.
