Location

If you're looking for a quiet and comfortable country hotel, Cliff at Lyons is the perfect spot for you. This boutique hotel is surrounded by beautiful landscapes and gardens, offering plenty of walks and stunning views. Despite being just outside Dublin, you'll feel like you're in a secluded oasis with a private gate for residents. The pretty garden cottages and manicured grounds create a lovely setting with easy accessibility to Dublin city. Both the hotel location and friendly staff make for an accommodating team to make your stay enjoyable. Whether you choose to walk within the demesne, the adjacent canal walk or take a stroll by the Grand Canal, this stunning location provides a beautiful place to relax and unwind.

Breakfast

The breakfast options at Cliff at Lyons received mixed reviews from guests. Some enjoyed their delicious and lovely breakfasts, while others found them disappointing with mainly meat-based options and limited choices for kids with no cereal and limited fruit. Vegan and vegetarian options were few to none. However, most guests had a great breakfast, stating that it set them up for the day and appreciated not having to serve themselves from a buffet. The breakfast served in the Orangery was a delightful experience and the Mill offered a plentiful and delicious selection of options. Although there were some minor issues, such as having to ask twice for toast, overall, the breakfast at Cliff at Lyons was very good with a variety of cereals and fruit on the menu, a full Irish option and a tasty selection of breads.

Dinner

Guests at Cliff at Lyons have raved about the dinner options available at this hotel. The Michelin star restaurant has received high praise with guests describing it as amazing and delicious. The setting of the restaurant is spectacular with a beautiful waterfall backdrop and lovely bar areas for an after dinner drink. While some guests were disappointed with the limited menu options, many still enjoyed the food in the restaurant and found it to be of a high standard. The Mill restaurant was exceptional, however the service at the restaurant was described as poor and charges were deemed too high for the level of service provided. Unfortunately, one guest suffered from food poisoning after dining at the hotel. Despite this, guests have overall enjoyed fabulous dining experiences at Clifford at Lyons with the Orangery serving up an incredible three course meal.

Rooms

If you're looking for a comfortable and gorgeous accommodation, the Cliff at Lyons is definitely worth considering. The rooms are varied and cater to a range of preferences. There are lovely cottages with beautiful decor, mayoral suites and even pond view rooms. The Palmer room may be a bit small for double occupancy, but it's gorgeous nonetheless. The beds in all the rooms are really comfortable and some guests even deemed them as the "best ever." If you're lucky, you might even get an upgrade to a two-bedroom cottage, which is absolutely amazing. The buildings and rooms are gorgeous, albeit a bit jaded and damp in some areas. The standard of accommodation is overall exceptional with only a few minor issues such as a chilly room or a window that wouldn't stay open. The bathrooms are also worth mentioning, as some guests referred to them as the "best ever." Unfortunately, the restaurant can be a little pricey, but the great quality of the accommodation compensates for that. Just make sure to book the spa treatment ahead of time to avoid missing out. You'll definitely love the peaceful and beautiful surroundings and some rooms even have a shared balcony for families or friends traveling together. All in all, the Cliff at Lyons offers fantastic rooms and accommodation that guarantee a lovely stay.

Cleanliness

Cliff at Lyons is a beautiful hotel that is immaculately presented and maintained. The staff ensures regular sanitisation in operation to keep everything very clean, but a few guests noted that cleanliness could be better. Some guests found long hairs in the showers and on the towels and others reported that the dishwasher, bin, cooker and fridge were not clean. Some guests mentioned a damp patch and damp smell in the toilet area of the ensuite. Additionally, some guests missed having non-slip mats in the shower and tissues or notepaper in the room. Overall, while the hotel is generally very clean, it could use some improvements in certain areas.

Staff

The staff at Cliff at Lyons are nothing short of amazing according to guest reviews. They are friendly, welcoming, helpful and accommodating. The French Restaurant manager is super attentive and the camogie playing waitress is a delight. The general manager is always on-site and is quick to deal with any issues. Emma from Donegal working in the restaurant is a standout with her great service. However, some guests felt that there could be more staff. Despite this, the service is excellent and the waiting staff are attentive. The barman in the Lyon's Den is fantastic and the lady who took dinner reservations is extremely accommodating. Overall, the staff truly make the experience at Cliff at Lyons exceptional, along with the beautiful scenery and dog-friendly environment.
