Historic HotelHotel San Michele rises from the remains of a 15th‑century church, originally built in 1436, as confirmed by a tuff relief of Saint Michael preserved in the building. The modest Renaissance‑style church featured an Arab‑Byzantine domed vault and hosted the ornate “Mysteries” statues used in Holy Week processions until the mid‑1700s. Heavily damaged during World War II and later urban development, the site was thoughtfully restored, maintaining its original ceramic floors, striking tuff arch, and stone staircase, before reopening as the modern Hotel San Michele in the historic centre of Trapani.
