Carmel Valley Lodge boasts a great location, according to guest reviews. The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of many shops, restaurants and tasting rooms in the heart of Carmel Valley Village. Guests praised the picturesque surroundings, dog-friendly natural area and outdoor dining options all within walking distance. They appreciated the cozy, quiet and convenient location that offered easy access to other activities. One guest remarked that the location was perfect with a nice walk through the park and delicious restaurants nearby. Some guests warned that the hotel is way out of the main Monterey or Carmel area, but others found it to be a perfect location with a pool and various room choices. Despite a misleading advertisement and the fact that Uber doesn't go into the Monterey Pier or Cannery Row, most guests thoroughly enjoyed the location and the hotel.

The spacious and comfortable rooms are well designed and equipped, making for a great accommodation experience. While some rooms may have dated aspects, they are still beautiful and exceptionally clean. The electric fireplaces in the rooms add a comforting touch, much like the homey feel of the property. If you prefer a secluded room, there are some available with outdoor seating. However, if a specific room doesn't suit your needs, you can always request a different one. The bed may be a bit squishy for some, but the room is guaranteed to be very clean. Although there isn't a coffee pot or microwave available in-room or even on request, the peaceful surroundings are great for relaxing. Unfortunately, there is no air conditioning, but there is a fan available that can be a bit noisy. Lastly, the room prices may be a bit high for some, but it doesn't negate the fact that the rooms are super clean, comfortable and beautiful.

The pool itself is huge, sparkling clean and heated with some guests enjoying the added bonus of a saltwater feature. The location of some of the rooms perfectly complement the serene pool surroundings. Although some guests have reported disruptive children, overall visitors enjoy the pool and wish it stayed open later. The only downside is that there is no air conditioning, making it more comfortable to swim and relax in cooler weather.
