Location
If you're looking for a truly unique and spectacular location for your next trip to Devon, Burgh Island Hotel might just be the place for you. From stunning views in every direction to a private swimming bay for guests, the location is truly exceptional. The hotel is perched on its own island overlooking the causeway and offers fantastic facilities, making it a one-of-a-kind location to visit. The historical building and ambience add to the sublime location and views.

Guests can enjoy lovely walks around the island with superb views and the surrounding area offers fantastic walking trails around the cliffs on the mainland. The island and hotel feel very exclusive, offering a real piece of history and culture that is a "must do" location. With a fantastic breakfast and great beach walks, it's hard to beat the location and views. The hotel has Art Deco charm and is beautifully decorated with friendly staff ready to welcome you to this fabulous location.

Overall, Burgh Island Hotel is a real gem and the perfect destination for those seeking a calm, peaceful escape in stunning surroundings. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply looking for a unique place to stay, this hotel on its own island is sure to impress with its outstanding view and beautiful location.

Breakfast
The Burgh Island Hotel boasts an exceptional breakfast spread that has guests raving about the food. Many describe it as fabulous, wonderful and fantastic with superb and exceptional food being served. Guests rave about the Champagne breakfast with some saying it's amazing. Reviewers also enjoyed great breakfast portions with one mentioning that they were at just the right size. Breakfast is served in Nettlefold and the setting is comfortable with a nice choice of dishes. While a few guests found some limited options, the majority were extremely happy with what was on offer. However, some guests felt that the poor breakfast offering, such as a meagre Full Devon Breakfast with only one piece of bacon and no sausages, was a letdown. Overall, the excellence and quality of the breakfast overshadowed any disappointments.

Dinner
The dinner experience at the Burgh Island Hotel garnered a mixed bag of reviews from guests. Many had praise for the excellent and beautifully presented food with some even describing it as exceptional and first-class. The black-tie dinner with a jazz band on Monday evening was a fantastic experience, while others were disappointed with the limited menu choices or the expensive nouvelle cuisine option. Despite the high cost of meals in the hotel, some found the a la carte restaurant to be better value while others preferred the Pilchard Inn for good food and service. However, some guests were disappointed with the limited food options, slow service or the quality of the dishes with some describing the food as too much show and not enough flavor. Overall, opinions were split, but guests seemed to agree that the dinner experience at Burgh Island Hotel had its highlights and drawbacks.

Rooms
Burgh Island Hotel is a unique experience that captures the elegance of the Roaring Twenties with impeccably designed decor and furnishings that put a permanent smile on guests' faces. From every room, whether it's the small cozy ones or the spacious suites, there is a fabulous view of the sea and the mainland. The rooms are beautifully restored with period details wonderfully captured and every room is named after famous personalities from the era. The hotel, a 1920's/1930's property, is full of art deco features and the design details are exceptional. However, some rooms are starting to look tired following the pandemic and there may be small but notable issues with room furnishings. The accommodations and furnishings may look tired and guests may experience small double beds and tiny bathrooms. Some rooms are advertised as having bathrooms in the bedrooms, which is not to everyone's liking. There may also be a lack of adequate facilities in some rooms. But the Eddyson suite and The Cunard are simply stunning and feature a separate sitting room, bedroom and bathroom with balconies providing constantly evolving scenic views. The bedding may be tired, but the comfortable surroundings and relaxing bath make up for it. There may be room problems, such as the en-suite, wooden floor and fly problem, but the rooms are very clean, cozy and the view from our window is entertaining. Overall, Burgh Island Hotel is a fabulous hotel full of period details and unique location with amazing Art Deco decor.

Staff
Burgh Island Hotel has a reputation for exceptional service with friendly and attentive staff. Many guests praised the etiquette and politeness of the staff, who are dedicated to making sure your stay is unforgettable. From the moment you arrive, the lovely warm welcome sets the tone for a truly luxurious getaway. The staff, including cleaners, Dan, Steve, Vlad, Jamie and the chef, make the whole experience fun and enjoyable. Vlad, the manager, is especially fantastic, ensuring that every guest has a pleasurable experience. However, some reviewers noted that some staff members required further training to be more professional in their service in the restaurants.

Despite this, the majority of the staff were friendly, helpful and willing to go above and beyond for guests. Guests received fantastic service everywhere throughout their stay and nothing was too much trouble for the dedicated staff. Many guests were impressed with the efficient, attentive and professional service provided with some noting it as the best experience they’ve ever had.

There were, however, some negative comments about the service. Some noted a lack of management presence, inexperienced staff and slow service with one reviewer stating that breakfast service was dreadful. Others noted that there were a few staff members with a poor attitude.

Overall, Burgh Island Hotel is known for its exceptional and friendly staff who are determined to ensure you have a good stay. From the moment you arrive to the moment you leave, everyone ensures that you have an amazing time.
