This 11th century castle stands on an extinct volcano. It was build as a fortress and repelled attacks from the Turks, the Hun and Kuruc. Throughout its lifetime it was passed around different families until it was renovated as a hotel in 1968. Today, it is an elegant hotel with panoramic views of Eastern Styria hill country on the terraces. It is also surrounded by museums, wineries and observatories for you to indulge in and explore.
