The Fichtel-Hotel by Meister Bär is cherished by guests for its exceptional location at the edge of a large, serene forest. This setting provides tranquility and immediate access to scenic hikes and nature walks, making it a desirable retreat for those seeking peace and quiet. The hotel's proximity to Selb, Elisenburg, various points of interest and the train station strikes a fine balance between accessibility and seclusion, underpinned by the natural beauty of the surroundings which many guests appreciate.
Breakfast at the hotel garners positive reviews for its quality and richness with guests frequently describing it as generous and a great start to the day. The friendly service and picturesque location enhance the experience. However, the lack of on-site availability requiring a 2 km trek to a secondary location for breakfast is a significant inconvenience for some, particularly given the hotel's remote setting.
Dining options at the hotel face challenges due to the temporary closure of the in-house restaurant attributed to staff shortages. While alternatives such as a nearby restaurant within walking distance or a taxi service are available, the absence of an on-site dining facility is a disappointment for some visitors. Nonetheless, the short distance to town offers viable dining out options.
Rooms at the hotel offer a tranquil ambiance with many located on the parking side or adjacent to the forest, providing a peaceful atmosphere. The accommodations are generally clean, spacious and feature comfortable beds. However, the decor and furnishings are considered somewhat outdated with issues like old furniture, wrinkled carpets and minor maintenance problems noted by guests. Despite these drawbacks, the overall cleanliness of the rooms contributes positively to the stay.
Cleanliness is a strong point at the hotel, consistently praised by guests who describe the rooms as very clean and neat. This commitment to cleanliness provides a satisfactory experience, even though the furnishings may appear older and simpler.
The hotel staff receive commendation for their friendliness, helpfulness and accommodating nature. Guests frequently highlight the positive interactions with the reception staff and the owner, contributing to a welcoming atmosphere. The staff's dedication to maintaining cleanliness and offering a generous breakfast further enhances the visit. Additionally, the ability of the staff to communicate in English is appreciated, facilitating a smoother guest experience.
Beds at the Fichtel-Hotel by Meister Bär are described as comfortable by many guests, contributing to a positive sleep experience. There are occasional mentions of firmness and bed size being issues for a few, but overall, the beds are well-received.
In summary, Fichtel-Hotel by Meister Bär is an ideal destination for those seeking a peaceful getaway in a beautiful natural setting. Despite some inconveniences related to breakfast logistics and the absence of an on-site restaurant, the hotel's location, cleanliness, friendly staff and generally comfortable rooms make it a favored choice for a serene retreat.
