Hotel Mar Azul is situated in an enviable location in the heart of Lagos, making it a prime choice for travelers seeking convenience and proximity to key attractions. Guests consistently highlight the hotel's central position, which allows easy walking access to an array of restaurants, bars, shops and entertainment options. Its placement on pedestrian streets ensures a lively atmosphere while maintaining a degree of tranquility at night. Scenic views of the sea from some rooms add to the appeal of this conveniently located hotel.
Though the hotel does not include breakfast as a standard offering, many guests found excellent alternatives nearby with some reviews noting an affordable and satisfying breakfast available for a small additional charge at the hotel itself. The food options, though simple, are fresher and provide good value for money.
The accommodations are noted for their cleanliness and daily housekeeping services with many rooms offering delightful views of the sea, city and marina. Rooms are generally described as simple but functional, equipped with essential amenities such as hairdryers, toiletries and TVs. Despite some criticisms regarding room size, humidity and outdated fittings, recent renovations have improved many aspects including modernized bathrooms and room furnishings.
Guest satisfaction is significantly bolstered by the hotel's high standards of cleanliness and the friendly, supportive staff. The employees are often highlighted for their kindness, attentiveness and multilingual capabilities, contributing positively to the overall atmosphere of the hotel.
The free WiFi at Hotel Mar Azul receives generally good feedback, although a few guests reported issues with connectivity in certain rooms and occasional internet problems. However, for the most part, the WiFi is described as reliable and fast.
For beach lovers, the hotel's location is ideal with several beaches within easy walking distance. Guests also appreciate the scenic views of the nearby sea and marina, making the hotel a convenient base for both beach days and city exploration.
The hotel’s central placement in a bustling nightlife district is both a highlight and a drawback. While the proximity to numerous bars, restaurants and shopping opportunities is a plus for those seeking vibrant evening entertainment, the noise levels can be quite high, especially on weekends.
Feedback on the beds is mixed. Many guests find them comfortable and suitable for a good night's rest, while others mention issues such as hard mattresses or worn-out bedding. Despite these inconsistencies, the bedding generally caters to comfort, particularly for those on a budget.
In summary, Hotel Mar Azul offers a clean, comfortable and well-located option for travelers looking to explore Lagos. Its central location, friendly staff and essential amenities provide good value, especially for those prioritizing convenience and cleanliness in their stay.
