Is there anything that you would like to highlight, add or clarify?
1. All suites contain organic cotton sheets, and 100% local hand loom woven textiles of Greek cotton.
2. More than 90% of construction came from local earthy materials, such as local stone and Naxian marble.
3. All produce comes within a 1 Km distance only.
4. Every suite’s decoration reflects its legend, history and tradition with its handmade art by local artists.
5. All bathrooms and counter tops are no exception. Every one is different and is made in the old-fashioned cement mortar style in which only natural materials are used. The so-called cement mortar is an absolutely natural, 100% eco-friendly and bio-climatic material without any chemical substances added and it’s based on natural stones as its constituents are the theraine earth, limestone, quartz sand and kerammala. It gives distinctive elegant aesthetics to the bathrooms and counter tops, with its most important parameter to be the excellent result, both visual, functional and emotional – a relaxed ambiance that embraces traditional elegance and contemporary style. The pressed mortar cement is a 100% Greek eco-friendly product with decades of history and was first used in the Cycladic islands.
6. Everything is cleaned with nontoxic Green Seal products.
7. Use natural tap water from the natural water spring of the adjacent village of Moni.
8. Located at 500 meters altitude where locals produce everything for their own households so they do not spray, use preservatives, fertilizers, or any other hazardous chemicals and the air is pure clean meaning visitors enjoy spectacular night sleep.

Alila Jabal Akhdar’s commitment to treading lightly on the planet is evident in its discreet architecture, built from local stone in accordance with LEED environmental design principles. The resort is also making great strides towards achieving its next environmental target – zero waste to landfill.

Awarded 3rd EarthCheck status in 2019, the resort has initiated four R’s of zero waste – reduce, reuse, recycle, and rot (compost).

Successfully diverted more than 181,880 kg of food waste, removed 153,728 kg of solid waste, and roughly 13,645 liters of chemicals, partial soaps, and amenities collected from rooms over the years of 2017-19. All food waste produced by the resort is composted and provides vegetable waste oil back to the resort’s organic farm. In addition, the restaurant has built its menu entirely around sustainable practices, farm-to-table meals, as well as waste and plastic reduction.

Alila Jabal Akhdar uses its own refillable glass water bottles and has a water processing facility 2,000 meters above the sea in Oman's Al Hajar Mountains. Other green initiatives include solar power to heat the resorts hot water supply, which in turn is recycled to irrigate the grounds. On top of its efforts to minimize plastic usage at the property, elastic replaced by wooden cutlery, comb, toothbrush, paper straws, cups, trash bags, take out boxes, food wraps, biodegradable coffee capsules and turn down sustainable giveaways.

Alila Jabal Akdhar resort's donation program supports the protection of endangered wildlife and conserves natural heritage through its partnership with Environmental Society Oman.
