Location
Meadfoot Bay is located in a nice, quiet and safe area of Torquay, which is considered the smart end of town. The location is fantastic with easy access to the south west coast path and only a few minutes' walk to the gorgeous Meadfoot Bay beach. The hotel is close to both the beach and the town center with only a 10-15 minute walk away (depending on the hill). Although there is a steep walk up to the hotel, guests loved the tranquil setting high above the town in leafy, quiet lanes near the sea and beach. Despite being a bit out of the way, it's still a great location for a short break with plenty to see and do in the town and surrounding area. The hotel's location was praised for being close enough to Torquay center but quiet with the location being the right end of the city. There are lots of lovely walks around the hotel and it's also situated near good restaurants and other beaches, making it a convenient spot.

The breakfast menu offers great choice, including the chef's homemade granola and perfectly cooked dippy eggs. The homemade brownie, which was offered when one guest missed breakfast, is also worth a mention. The restaurant itself is excellent with beautiful food that is presented lovely. Guests have praised the breakfast staff and service for being professional, courteous and attentive at all times. The continental breakfast option, which is included in the room rate, is very good. While some find the restaurant to be a gem with exceptional food quality and a great menu, others find it pretentious and overpriced with a limited vegetarian selection. The Brassiere at the Bay restaurant is recommended and considered 5* quality by some guests. It is advised to book dinner in advance as it’s a popular spot. Service is excellent with genuine good service reported. However, there were some negatives such as a poor menu, rushed service and a £3.50 evening service charge to serve dinner. Despite some of these issues, guests generally liked the food and some even skipped other restaurant options due to the high quality of the meals.
