Very Good
Location
Hotel de France is situated in a convenient location, just a short walk from the centre of St Helier. While a bit remote from the town centre, the hotel's beautiful grounds and great sea views make up for it. Guests can easily explore St Helier on foot or Jersey by car and there is a good bus service and hotel shuttle available. However, it should be noted that the hotel is on a steep hill, so for those looking for a quieter location away from the hustle and bustle of town, this is the perfect spot. The last 100 yards are quite steep, but the walk up the hill is worth it for the views. There is a lovely park to walk through to get to town and the hotel grounds are so pretty. The hotel position needs to be pointed out more clearly as it is a little bit out of the way, but the location is perfect to get to St. Helier and beyond.

Breakfast
Guests have a range of opinions on the breakfast at Hotel de France. Some describe it as excellent with a lovely array of food, a wide choice and beautifully presented fruit, cheese, charcuterie and bread. Others say it was good or nice with good enough choices or a great selection, but limited hot food options, same items every day, plates that were cold or old bread and dried ham. Some mentioned the bacon was beyond crispy or that the hot food was only lukewarm. A few criticized the lack of variety, the need to get your own breakfast or the additional charge for some items. Overall, some guests enjoyed the breakfast, while others felt it didn't meet the standards of a 4-star hotel. However, many enjoyed the evening meals and found the spa to be lovely.

Dinner
Guests have varying opinions about the dinner experience at Hotel de France. While some enjoyed the delicious and lovely food, there are those who found the restaurant pricey and the menu choice limited. Some guests also complained about the slow service and small portion sizes. However, the evening meals were excellent for others with fantastic views and a refurbished restaurant setting. Some guests also noted that the restaurant staff had difficulty understanding the menu. The limited gluten-free and vegetarian options disappointed some guests. Despite the mixed reviews, the hotel restaurant's evening meals were enjoyable for some, but the menu could be more varied and prices could be more reasonable.

Rooms
Hotel de France boasts a range of rooms, from lovely and clean to spacious and luxurious. The communal areas are also beautiful. Some reviewers noticed that the room furniture could be improved for a more comfortable stay and a few rooms were a bit small or dated, but many guests were pleased with the comfort and cleanliness of their rooms. Some of the complaints included the lack of air conditioning, small beds, or unpleasant smells. However, many guests enjoyed the large rooms and excellent bathroom facilities, including walk-in showers. Additionally, some rooms had lovely views and were very light and airy. Housekeeping was prompt and perfect with daily room servicing and tea/coffee replenished. While some reviewers noted noise from other guests or hallway walking, others found the rooms to be peaceful and comfortable. Lastly, the spa and gym facilities were fantastic, adding to the overall experience of the guests' stay.

Beds
Hotel de France offers a variety of beds to meet the needs of their guests. Some guests found the mattress to be a bit saggy or hard, while others found the bedding to be of top quality. The king-size beds were comfortable and the single room offered a small, basic single bed. However, upgrading to a larger single bed with Ave made the stay much better. Despite the varying opinions on mattress firmness, all guests agreed that their beds were clean and comfortable. Some even described them as super comfy. While duvet and pillow quality could have been better, overall, Hotel de France provides a pleasant and restful sleep experience.

Cleanliness
The Hotel de France is a great choice for those looking for a calm and quiet retreat on their travels. Guests repeatedly mention how clean the hotel is with many commenting on the spotless rooms and bathrooms. Rooms are described as lovely and modern with comfortable beds and clean linens. The staff are friendly, helpful and welcoming and they make sure that guests are well taken care of during their stay. Whether it's the reception staff, restaurant staff, or bar staff, they are all great and make guests feel at home. The staff members are professional, efficient and courteous and they attend to guests' needs promptly. Jessica on reception is particularly helpful and the head waitress is excellent. The staff are so good that even guests who have coeliac disease feel safe dining at the hotel. While some guests have experienced staff who are not very smiley or engaging, most guests have nothing but positive things to say about the hotel staff. Overall, the staff at Hotel de France are fantastic and friendly and they go out of their way to make guests' stays enjoyable.

Spa
Hotel de France boasts a stunning spa that receives endless praise from guests. With lovely relaxing spa pools, exceptional quality spa and pool facilities and a gorgeous sunbathing terrace and garden, this hotel is a true spa oasis. Guests can enjoy spa treatments that are described as fabulous and exceptional and the spa rooms are modern, clean and wonderful. Additionally, the gym and sauna facilities are impressive, making it easy to keep up a fitness routine while being pampered. While some guests felt the dinner was average, the quality of products proposed in the restaurant were still appreciated. The only real complaint about the spa was that some guests felt slippers should have been provided. Overall, visitors rave that this is one of the best spas they have ever experienced and they love that it is free and exclusively for hotel residents.

Pool
Hotel de France's swimming pool area is undoubtedly one of its greatest features, according to satisfied guests. With exquisite facilities and a serene atmosphere, guests have enjoyed spending time and relaxing round the pool. The indoor and outdoor pool areas are very good with some describing the pool as excellent, superb or even amazing. The beauty of the pool is also highly praised with some guests using words like 'magnifique' to describe it. Along with the spa's lovely amenities, guests found themselves really enjoying the pool area. Some even claim that the pool and spa facilities are next level. The pool area has different bassins and is perfect for relaxing. The pool is also heated, making it perfect all year round. Although there were some issues with seagulls present in the dining area, the pool, garden and jacuzzi areas were good. With great facilities, including outside sunbeds and lovely grounds, the pool and jacuzzi area were some of the best that some guests had ever seen. Overall, guests are very pleased with the excellent swimming facilities at Hotel de France.

4 Star
Hotel de France is a beautiful four star establishment that provides a very enjoyable hotel experience. The building is interesting and the rooms are large and well equipped, providing stunning views. While the hotel is lovely to look at, breakfast could use some improvement as there isn't much variety and guests have complained about the lack of fresh fruit and teaspoons and having to wait for drinks. Additionally, for a 4 star hotel, it is disappointing that bottled water is not provided in the rooms. While some guests have expressed concern that the hotel doesn't really meet 4 star standards, others have found it to be clean and comfortable, albeit expensive.
