Location
If you're looking for a peaceful escape, Ye Olde Bell Hotel & Spa may be just the place for you. Located in a quiet town, it offers a lovely garden area where you can unwind and relax. For those on the move, it's conveniently close to the A1 which makes it an ideal stopover location. While the road outside can be noisy, the overall location of the hotel is still considered good. In fact, many guests found it to be an ideal spot for their needs, including being close to their target location. The setting is also very nice with historic touches and charming gardens to explore. The only downside some guests mentioned was the size of the rooms for the price, but the Bar and outside areas provided a nice space to relax in regardless. Overall, Ye Olde Bell Hotel & Spa offers a great location for those seeking a peaceful retreat or a convenient stopover spot.

Breakfast
The breakfast at Ye Olde Bell Hotel & Spa is a highlight for many guests with many describing it as excellent, superb and delicious. The options available are varied and the quality of the breakfast is consistently good. The continental selection is excellent, while the full English breakfast and haddock and poached eggs come highly recommended. However, some guests did have mixed experiences with the breakfast with some commenting on substandard items such as burnt toast and tinned mushrooms. Additionally, some guests did not receive their orders as expected, such as poached eggs arriving hard-boiled. Despite mixed experiences, the majority of guests had a positive breakfast experience at the hotel.

Dinner
Ye Olde Bell Hotel & Spa offers a variety of dining options to its guests including outdoor garden lunch and evening dinner arrangements. Although some guests found the dinner too expensive, the quality of the food was generally good with varied choices on the menu. However, there were a few disappointing experiences where the main meal was either cold or overcooked and the service was slow on some occasions. Despite this, most guests found the evening meals to be really nice with some describing the food as 'out of this world'. The only major downside was that there were not many options and some felt that the choices were nothing more than pub grub with hotel prices. The restaurant at Ye Olde Bell Hotel & Spa is worth visiting for its good quality, well-cooked food and reasonable prices, but be prepared for limited options and possibly slow service.

Rooms
Ye Olde Bell Hotel & Spa is a character property with a mix of old-fashioned and modern styles. The rooms are generally comfortable, clean and well-kept with varying levels of size and decor. Some of the rooms are luxurious and spacious, while others are a bit small and cluttered. Some guests complained about the lack of air conditioning or heating, drafty windows, or outdated decor. However, most people found the beds to be comfortable and enjoyed the vintage furniture. The bathrooms were generally good with good showers and some particularly nice ones. Some rooms had issues such as broken radiators, TV or Wi-Fi problems, noisy corridors or doors, or lack of cleanliness. Prices for rooms and drinks were a bit high, which some guests found pricey. Overall, the hotel offers a nice break from the city with friendly and helpful staff, but some rooms could do with updating or more attention to detail.

Beds
Ye Olde Bell Hotel & Spa offers a comfortable stay with modern amenities in their courtyard rooms. Guests appreciate the comfortable beds and pillows, although some found the beds to be smaller than expected and the duvets and pillows to be of low quality. Overall, the hotel provides good value for money. However, some reviewers mentioned uncomfortable mattresses with one guest comparing it to sleeping on concrete and another describing the mattress as lumpy. Despite these minor issues, most guests enjoyed a very comfortable stay with Ye Olde Bell Hotel & Spa.

Cleanliness
Ye Olde Bell Hotel & Spa has received mixed reviews regarding the cleanliness of the hotel. While some guests reported that the hotel was clean and staff were friendly and helpful, others have had less positive experiences. Many guests reported issues such as cobwebs in their rooms, stained comforters and mould in the shower cubicle. Some guests also reported issues with dirty carpets, grubby walls and dusty furnishings. While some guests found the hotel to be overall clean and homely, others felt that the decor was tired and the communal areas were cluttered and untidy. Despite these mixed reviews, the hotel has made efforts to ensure good virus awareness and has a range of good facilities.

Staff
The staff of Ye Olde Bell Hotel & Spa are frequently praised in guest reviews for their excellent customer service, friendliness and professionalism. Many specifically mentioned the helpfulness of the staff in accommodating their requests, from extending their stay to providing excellent service at the spa. The hotel receptionists and restaurant manager, Billy, are noted as exceptional and many reviewers complimented specific staff members by name. However, one reviewer had a negative experience with a restaurant manageress who was abrupt and rude. Overall, guests found the staff to be welcoming, efficient and attentive, creating a warm and friendly atmosphere throughout the hotel.

Spa
Ye Olde Bell Hotel & Spa advertises itself as a spa hotel, but some guests were disappointed with the access and availability of the spa. The hotel offers great spa facilities, but some guests were required to pay extra or book well in advance. Despite the pricing issues, guests who did get to enjoy the spa had an excellent experience and found it to be one of the best they have ever been to. It is suggested that the hotel catch up with the times regarding their spa policies. Overall, the spa experience at Ye Olde Bell Hotel & Spa was superb, but it is recommended to book spa treatments in advance and expect to pay extra for it.

4 Star
Ye Olde Bell Hotel & Spa offers a good value for money with friendly and helpful staff. It's an excellent overnight stay for those looking for a historic atmosphere of an old coaching inn. The location is ideal and the breakfast is fine. The bathroom in the room is great with a comfy bed to rest on. However, some guests found the evening meal to be boring and expensive. SPA session should be booked well in advance as it is not included in the room rate. It's one of the best spas some guests have ever been to, even though the full-day price is £200pp excluding extras. The SPA's evening price starts at £75. The hotel has a beautiful setting, but some guests commented on the extremely tired decor and untidy communal areas. Some guests had unpleasant experiences with the reception and restaurant staff and food. Nevertheless, its exceptional value for money makes it a lovely little place to stay despite not delivering the 4-star experience promised when booking.

Historic
If you're looking for an authentic English holiday experience, there's no better place to stay than Ye Olde Bell Hotel & Spa. This character property boasts a charming building that's full of history and interesting details - perfect for those who love learning about the past. The Xmas decor during the holiday season is particularly superb, adding to the hotel's delightful atmosphere. While the country pub style interior is exactly what you'd expect from a historical hotel, the decor in the hotel rooms takes you back to the 19th century. In some areas, the hotel has gone past its sell-by date. However, this jaded appearance adds to the overall charm of this lovely little place. Despite showing its age in places, Ye Olde Bell Hotel & Spa remains a nice historical hotel with character and a good atmosphere.
