The hotel contains of two villas, Asili House and Villa Kidosho. Both villas are directly on the beach, embedded in abounded blooming and scented plants. Asili House is designed with natural African and Swahili elements, Villa Kidosho in oriental style. Therefore the villas combine the typical african and arabic influences which have shaped the character of Zanzibar.

Asili House consists of four bedrooms, named and decorated after the four elements. Villa Kidosho has two suites, named sun and moon. All rooms are equipped with dressing area, bathroom and balcony or terrace and have a fantastic sea view. Each villa has its own sea-facing swimming pool and sun terraces as well as a lounge with sitting and dining areas.

Room Types

Double Room with Balcony and Sea View Rooms are decorated after the four elements and are equipped with unique furniture made by local craftsmen. Each room offers sea views and has a large balcony with sun loungers. They feature a dining table, dressing table and a spacious bathroom with sea views fitted with a shower and bath.

Deluxe Suite with Sea View Located at Villa Kidosho, these spacious and themed suites offer magnificent sea views. They include a large private terrace, a TV, DVD player and minibar. Each comes with a spacious bathroom with double shower and bath tub. The villa contains a huge lounge with dining table, sitting area, coffee bar, library and terrace with direct access to an infinity pool.

Boutique Hotel Matlai is a private piece of heaven situated in a more quiet area of Zanzibar with a great location just on the beach of Pingwe. The hotel offers amazing views over the ocean and an idyllic location that's perfect for a gate away. Guests can enjoy snorkelling by foot and take boat tours to great snorkel reefs. The rooms have balconies with beautiful views of both the pool and the beach. Directly in front of the hotel is a sandbank and the famous Rock Restaurant is just a 10-minute walk away along the sand. Although the location may not be the best for visiting the north of the island, it's considered top by guests who love the incredibly clean beach and magnificent views.

Breakfast

Guests at Boutique Hotel Matlai are treated to a private and exceptional breakfast experience with a wide range of dishes to choose from every day. The breakfast is outstanding with delicious local and international menus, fresh juices and a variety of eggs, cheese and meats. Guests can enjoy breakfast on their balcony or anywhere they wish and the chef is exceptional. The half board option comes highly recommended with top Speisen and excellent petit déjeuner. The dinner menu is also top-notch, changing daily and served in-room. With so much variety and flexibility on when and where to eat, guests have nothing but amazing things to say about the food at Boutique Hotel Matlai. However, some negative comments were made about insufficient seafood and fruit options, missing items when ordering breakfast and some even found the food to be really bad.
