Location
Macdonald Elmers Court Resort is a fantastic location for a short break away. The beautiful grounds and stunning views create a peaceful surrounding with the added convenience of being near the town and sea. The resort is located close to Lymington and IoW ferry terminal, making it a perfect starting point for daily adventures in the New Forest, Bournemouth or on the Isle of Wight. Some guests also enjoyed the Saturday market with unique sellers in town. The main building, set in 23 acres, provides exceptional views of the Solent and the indoor and outdoor pools are a nice bonus. Though some guests noted noise from the ferry, the lovely surroundings make for great walks around the resort. Overall, the location is beautiful with plenty of things to do and see and the resort is a lovely place to stay as a family.

Breakfast
The breakfast at Macdonald Elmers Court Resort received mixed reviews. While some guests enjoyed the food and found it excellent, others found the food choices limited and the quality of the buffet not worth the expensive price tag. Some even felt that the breakfast staff seemed uninterested in serving them. Some guests also found the vegetarian options lacking with mushrooms and black pudding in the same warm cover. However, others appreciated the helpfulness and politeness of the breakfast staff. Some guests also felt that the prices were very high with £57 for breakfast for four being considered excessive. Some guests were also put off by the lack of clarity on whether breakfast was included with some feeling that the £15 per head charge was not justified. Overall, while the breakfast had potential, guests had mixed feelings and may be better off eating elsewhere.

Dinner
The dinner options at the Macdonald Elmers Court Resort had mixed reviews from guests. Some were disappointed with the limited menu at the restaurant by the pool and gym, while others wished for more choices in the main dining room and the spa restaurant. The quality of the food received mixed opinions with some guests finding it overpriced or not appealing and others enjoying meals or even going for afternoon tea. Room service was an option but had limited hours. A few guests decided to eat out every meal due to the poor food offering. The bistro was considered old-fashioned and lacking atmosphere. While some guests enjoyed their meals, there were suggestions to vary the menu and improve the value for money, especially for the buffet. Guests complained about the expensive meat platter given the few slices of bread. Overall, travelers suggest keeping an open mind when it comes to dining options at the resort.

Rooms
The Macdonald Elmers Court Resort offers a variety of accommodation options, including spacious and comfortable apartments and cottages. Some guests mentioned that their accommodations were self-contained and well-equipped with everything they needed, including kitchens and large TVs. Some rooms provided a lovely view over the bay and the Tudor house added character to their stay. However, several guests mentioned that some of the rooms were dated and could do with modernization, including an ancient mattress and windows covered in mould. Some guests experienced cleanliness issues, such as cobwebs, dirty bedding and unpleasant smells. Despite this, many guests praised the spaciousness and comfort of their apartments and the beautiful grounds of the hotel. The hotel boasts great access to local amenities such as Lymington and the Isle of Wight Ferry, along with indoor pool and spa facilities for guests to enjoy.

Beds
Guests have had mixed opinions about the beds at Macdonald Elmers Court Resort. Some guests have had a great night's sleep on the comfortable super king size bed or the 'guten Betten', while others have had trouble sleeping on the very hard, old or broken mattresses. Many guests found the twin beds zipped together or the plastic beds full of awful dirty bedding uncomfortable and some even complained of a vomit smell in their son's bed. The pillows didn't fare much better either with many guests finding them just as bad as the mattresses. While some guests found the beds too soft and therefore uncomfortable, others described feeling like they were 'sleeping on a rock'. The sofa beds were also outdated and uncomfortable and in some cases full of springs sticking out. Overall, guests' experiences with the beds at the resort have been mixed and may depend on individual preferences and luck of the draw.

Cleanliness
Although some areas of Macdonald Elmers Court Resort could do with an update, overall cleanliness is of a good standard. The swimming pool area could benefit from more frequent cleaning and some guests reported dampness and mould in their accommodation. However, there were many positive reviews of clean and comfortable apartments and cottages, as well as the leisure facilities. A few guests noted a lack of attention to detail and occasional dirty crockery, but most found the resort to be well-presented and clean.

Staff
Macdonald Elmers Court Resort boasts a mixed bag of reviews when it comes to staff. On one hand, guests rave about the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff at the reception, bar and spa. Some even go as far as to commend specific staff members for going above and beyond the call of duty. On the other hand, there are reviews that suggest that certain staff members are reluctant to assist guests and come across as rude and disinterested. There are mentions of reception staff needing more training and of the leisure club staff having unprofessional arguments in front of guests. Despite the inconsistent reviews, the majority of guests are satisfied with the polite and attentive service they receive.

Spa
Macdonald Elmers Court Resort boasts impressive spa facilities that have received mixed reviews from guests. Some describe the spa as a leisure centre, while others find it basic. However, the lovely warm pool and nice steam room make up for it. Although spa treatments are expensive and difficult to book, those who have had them say they were lovely. Some guests were disappointed with the attitudes of a female staff member. Nevertheless, the spa's location is excellent with lovely walks nearby and the leisure centre included in the room stay. Guests can also enjoy the restaurant by the spa. Although the spa did not meet everyone's expectations, it is still a bonus to have on-site.

Pool
The Macdonald Elmers Court Resort has both indoor and outdoor swimming pools, perfect for families with children who love to swim. The indoor pool is safe, clean and warm, but the children's area can be colder than the main pool. The outdoor pool is great for those hot summer days, but it may not be for everyone as some guests found it cold. Regardless, the pools are a great addition to the leisure facilities which also include a spa. However, some guests were disappointed with the lack of friendliness from the staff at the leisure facilities. While some found the pool to be lovely and well-maintained, others mentioned that the area around the pool wasn't always clean and there were slips as a result of the wet floor. Despite these complaints, the hotel's spacious grounds and lovely views may offer an amazing outdoor experience for some.

Parking
Guests staying at the Macdonald Elmers Court Resort can enjoy allocated parking spaces close to their apartments, ensuring easy access to their vehicles throughout their stay. Reviews indicate that parking is found to be adequate and good with dedicated spaces for self-catering units. However, it should be noted that the hotel does not have chargers available. Though some guests may have experienced trouble locating their apartments, staff at the front desk are reportedly helpful in directing guests towards their parking spots. In the rare event that allocated spaces are occupied, guests can take advantage of unreserved parking, which is said to be plentiful. Overall, parking appears to be a hassle-free experience for guests at this resort.

Family
Macdonald Elmers Court Resort is a great family venue for a great price. The hotel offers perfect facilities for kids, including both indoor and outdoor swimming pools, children's play area and a garden. The pool was perfect for our kids with an area for our toddler to be able to stand, an area for the 5-year-old to stand and swim plus the lap pool and jacuzzi. The hotel is also ideal for families who want to explore the New Forest with plenty of room and beautiful family rooms. However, some guests commented on the hotel's expensive breakfast, charged at £18 per person and £9 for children, as well as the poor menu choice in the evening for children. Some guests also highlighted issues with room service and the need to make beds themselves. Despite this, Macdonald Elmers Court Resort is an enjoyable no-frills family stay with great facilities to enjoy.

3 Star
The Macdonald Elmers Court Resort boasts a great location, but unfortunately, many guests leave feeling disappointed. Despite the hotel being considered a three-star establishment, many found the accommodation to be basic and outdated with some even deeming it not worth the money. Reviewers noted that the rooms were in need of a refresh and that the overall condition left something to be desired. Additionally, the lack of room service and breakfast did not sit well with some guests considering the high price point. There were even complaints about the drinks being too expensive. It seems that the hotel might have some potential but needs a serious update to meet modern standards.

Outdoor Pool
The Macdonald Elmers Court Resort is a lovely town resort that offers a range of facilities such as indoor and outdoor pools. The outdoor pool area is comfortable and a real sun trap with some lovely views of Solent and the boats and ferries passing by. However, the outdoor pool is unheated and can be quite cold and it needs to be cleaned more frequently. Despite this, many guests enjoyed spending their time by the great outdoor pool, playing in the small play park nearby and indulging in afternoon tea. The resort is set in an old Manor House in 23 acres of beautiful grounds, making it an ideal place to relax and take in the stunning surroundings.

Indoor Pool
Macdonald Elmers Court Resort offers a range of indoor and outdoor pools perfect for adults and children alike. The indoor pool is particularly inviting, being clean, warm and safe for all. In addition to the main pool, there are areas for younger children to paddle and for adults to take laps or relax in the jacuzzi, sauna or steam room. Showers are conveniently located for pool users, including poolside. The outdoor pool is set in attractive grounds surrounding an old Manor House, adding to the resort's charm. Despite a few negative comments about the cleanliness of the indoor pool, guests overwhelmingly enjoyed using the facilities, especially children who loved the pool. Beyond swimming, the resort offers other activities such as tennis, all adding up to make for a fun-filled stay.
