Location

Black Ivy is a modern and stylish hotel situated in a prime location, away from the bustling tourist crowds of Edinburgh city centre. Guests loved the nice view of the park opposite and the hotel's easily accessible position on good bus routes within walking distance to many of Edinburgh's main attractions. The hotel is excellently positioned for those looking to explore the city with a bus stop straight to St Andrews Square just across the park. Although not directly in the centre of Edinburgh, the location is in a lovely quiet spot, allowing for a great night's sleep. Conveniently, there are many local restaurants, bars and pubs nearby, giving visitors plenty of options to choose from and some amazing food and pubs are within walking distance of the hotel. Despite being located just outside the city centre, it is still located in a popular area and still not far from the centre. Many guests commented on the perfect location and proximity to places where one can go sightseeing. The hotel is situated just outside the city centre, on the edge of The Meadows with easy walking distance to the University and city sights and a lovely walk into the town centre. Overall, the location of Black Ivy is great, set in a quieter neighbourhood, yet close enough to Bruntsfield Place and the centre of the city.

Breakfast

Black Ivy hotel's breakfast has been a hit with guests. The food was hot, freshly made and of high quality with plenty of choices. In particular, the Scottish breakfast was a favorite and breakfast by the fireplace was an enjoyable highlight. Vegetarian options were also available and delicious. The hotel offers an a la carte breakfast with great food at a reasonable price, however, the timing opens at 8 am which is too late for some. The staff were helpful and attentive, but some guests preferred tidier rooms with new sheets and a phone in the room.
