Commodore Hotel was built in 1854 and had been used as a hospital and makeshift morgue for the wounded and victims of World War I. With such a turbulent past it is no wonder that the hotel is a little more than haunted. Apart from the ghosts of the wounded who died there during the war, guests have reported hearing the eerie cries of a baby in the upper rooms, where its body is said to have been found abandoned in a suitcase in one of the rooms in the 1900s. There are also some unexplainable drops of temperature at around the time when a young British army captain took his life in the hotel.

Rooms are generously sized with large windows for views of the harbor. The hotel staff is very accommodating and the value for money is excellent. Overall, the Commodore Hotel is an ideal location for guests to explore Cobh and enjoy the beautiful views of the sea.
