Many guests rave about the fantastic, outstanding, delicious and superb breakfast with lots of choices available. The buffet breakfast is also generally well-received with a good selection of food, though some reviewers noted that it was a bit chaotic at times. Many reviewers enjoyed the bar food, too with one guest specifically mentioning the "chips?.ha ha." However, the cost of breakfast at the hotel received mixed opinions with some saying it is a bit pricey or even extortionate. Some guests also noted that vegan or gluten-free options are not readily available at the self-service breakfast, but the staff are friendly and attentive. Overall, guests seem satisfied with the breakfast and other dining options at The Old Ship Hotel- Part of the Cairn Collection with many giving praise to the attentive staff and good food quality.

Rooms
The Old Ship Hotel has garnered mixed reviews about the state of their rooms. While some rooms were described as very comfortable, spacious, clean and well-furnished, parts of the hotel were found to be outdated, tired, shabby and even grubby. Some guests noted that the bed was uncomfortable and the bathroom showed signs of mold. However, others loved the atmosphere of the hotel and appreciated the features such as the stunning view from the room. Some guests also noted that they were upgraded to larger beds and rooms. While the decor was described as dated and in need of modernizing, most guests found their rooms clean and warm. On the negative side, some guests complained of the lack of air conditioning and the noise from adjacent hotel deliveries, creaky floorboards and windows that were not soundproof. Some guests also complained of leaking radiators and inadequate showers. Overall, guests agreed that the hotel needs investment and some maintenance/upkeep work, but still found the rooms comfortable and suitable for their stay.

Beds
The Old Ship Hotel boasts comfortable beds that receive great guest reviews. Some guests have noted rooms with wider than usual beds, while others have remarked on the mega comfortable beds. Though there are some mixed reviews, the overall consensus is that the beds are very comfortable and some guests claim they are the comfiest they've ever slept on. Rooms also have warm temperatures, adding to the cozy feel of the comfortable beds. Whether you're looking for a large bed, extra comfy bed or just a very comfortable bed, The Old Ship Hotel has got your sleeping needs covered.

Cleanliness
Located in a prime spot, The Old Ship Hotel provides clean and comfortable rooms for travelers. While some areas of the hotel can be considered tired-looking and in need of attention, guests praised the overall cleanliness of the hotel. The rooms were generally clean and comfortable with some needing a deeper clean to get rid of smoking smells and stains on carpets. The bathrooms were also mostly clean, although some had limescale and stains on toilets. The hotel bar area can use some improvement in terms of cleanliness. However, guests noted that the property was spotlessly clean and tidy enough overall. Despite some negative reviews mentioning dirty bedspreads and flaking paints, guests highly appreciated the good standard of cleaning that the hotel provides.

Staff
If you're looking for a hotel with a welcoming atmosphere, The Old Ship Hotel is the place to stay. The staff is consistently praised in guest reviews for their friendly and accommodating nature. They go above and beyond to ensure that guests feel comfortable and taken care of during their stay. From reception to the restaurant, the staff is polite, efficient and welcoming. Many guests mentioned specific staff members by name, attesting to the personal level of care that they received. The hotel is also dog-friendly, adding to the warm and welcoming vibe. Guests appreciated the hotel's great location with secure parking, making it very handy and good value for money. Some guests even managed to park within the hotel grounds, but space is limited in size. Although the parking fee is quite expensive, it is comparable to The Lanes car park next door. However, some guests were not happy with the 'hidden' parking charges and the lack of free parking advertised. Overall, the car parking was excellent, but some improvements need to be made, such as fixing the scruffy entrance from the car park to the hotel and making parking more accessible for disabled guests.

Nightlife
If you are looking for a hotel that is close to all the main attractions and nightlife, The Old Ship Hotel might be the perfect place for you. Located in a great place for exploring the Lanes, the pier and the pavilion, this hotel is perfect for those who want to be right in the heart of the action. However with the great location comes a bit of noise. Guests reported that the nearby nightclubs and beach music venues can be quite noisy until about midnight every day. Some guests also reported noise from the business underneath their rooms until 4am. Despite the noise, the hotel is still a great option for those who want to experience the nightlife of Brighton. The hotel also has fine places to eat and drink, but vegans might struggle to find suitable options. Overall, The Old Ship Hotel is a great overnight option for those attending a concert or event in Brighton.
