The hotel is set in beautiful gardens, including a beautiful courtyard garden and is perfect for relaxing with a pre-dinner drink while listening to the grandfather clock tick in the distant background. The location is excellent with the hotel set in a quintessentially English village that is also great for forest walks, pub dinners & coffees in nearby Lymington. The hotel's fantastic character, excellent food and drink also add to its brilliant location. Overall, guests have been impressed with the Montagu Arms' fantastic location in Beaulieu/New Forest, making it the ideal place to stay for those looking for a charming and relaxing getaway.

Breakfast
If you're looking for a hotel with an exceptional breakfast, The Montagu Arms might just be the place for you. Guests rave about the beautiful, great, excellent and superb breakfast options available at the hotel. There's a good varied breakfast with a great buffet and a good range of excellently cooked dishes on offer. And all this is served in a lovely room with a great selection of food available, overlooking the gorgeous garden. Guests also appreciate the complimentary tea in the morning, which is a wonderful treat.

Despite a few mixed reviews, most guests thoroughly enjoy the breakfast at The Montagu Arms with many calling it the best part of their stay. Some guests do note that the breakfast can be a bit pricey or slightly limited compared to what they expected, but overall the breakfast is said to be of excellent value for money. And despite the occasional issue with poached eggs or dry beans, guests generally find the food to be all fresh and nicely presented. So if you're a foodie looking for a great breakfast during your travels, The Montagu Arms is definitely worth considering.

Dinner
The Montagu Arms offers guests exceptional cuisine for both dinner and breakfast with the Terrace Restaurant being particularly outstanding. Monty's Inn also provides excellent dining options, although the brasserie and bar meals were not as exceptional. The traditional and elegantly furnished dining areas created an exquisite atmosphere and the service was excellent. However, the hotel dining experience was negatively impacted when the main restaurant was closed and guests were directed to the adjoining pub, which was disappointing in both ambiance and food quality. Nonetheless, those who dined at Monty's or the Terrace Restaurant raved about the outstanding food and unique dishes, such as chicken amuse bouches and pear dessert. The limited but well-crafted menus and great service made for a memorable dining experience overall.

Rooms
The Montagu Arms boasts superb, clean and comfortable rooms, beautifully furnished and decorated with great facilities and lovely views. Guests can opt for the superior Willow room or even a fantastic hayloft suite with a garden view. The hotel's turn down service and cleaning are excellent and the garden is a great spot for pre-dinner drinks. Although some rooms were outdated and lacked soundproofing, the hotel is newly refurbished and spotlessly clean with lots of character. While some guests found the rooms hot, small or noisy, others described them as perfect and the bath as fantastic. Some reviews noted issues with dated or poorly working amenities, but overall the rooms were well-furnished and spacious.

Beds
Guests staying at The Montagu Arms can rest assured that they will have a comfortable night's sleep. While some guests found the mattress a little too soft or the bed uncomfortable, the majority of reviews rave about the comfortable beds with some even describing them as super comfortable. Those looking for an extra special night's sleep can opt for a suite complete with a 4-poster bed. However, some guests did note that the Double Bed 4’6” in Room 26 was too small and lacked drawer space. Overall, while there were some negative comments about the beds being small or hard, the positive reviews far outweighed them with guests generally finding the beds nice and comfy.

Cleanliness
If cleanliness is one of your top priorities when choosing a hotel, look no further than The Montagu Arms. The hotel boasts an impeccable level of service and guests describe it as excellent in every way. The rooms are clean and comfortable, spotlessly clean in fact with friendly and helpful cleaning staff. The cleaning and turn down service is great and the rooms are both clean and spacious. The hotel itself is described as lovely, an old hotel that has been fully refurbished with lots of character. Although a few guests had minor issues with cleaning, as is common in any hotel, overall the cleanliness of the hotel is highly praised. One guest mentioned that the bathrooms ideally need updating but at the very least a thorough clean and another had to ask for the garden table to be wiped clean. However, these issues seem to be the exception rather than the rule. If you're looking for a spotlessly clean and lovely hotel with great service, look no further than The Montagu Arms.

Staff
The staff at The Montagu Arms are exceptional! Guests cannot praise them enough from the front desk to the breakfast room and restaurant. They are incredibly polite, accommodating and well-trained. Nothing is too much trouble for them and they always had a smile on their faces. Guests with children found the staff superb and made the stay pleasurable. Some guests mentioned specific staff members who stood out, namely Ben, Jared and the breakfast staff. However, others felt there was a lack of staff and some waiting staff were not efficient. Despite this, the majority of guests found the staff universally helpful, gracious, courteous and welcoming. Overall, they give the hotel a lovely atmosphere and no request was too big or small. The Montagu Arms is a charming hotel with fabulous staff, which make guests feel special and well taken care of.
