The Montagu Arms is a lovely old hotel located in the picturesque village of Beaulieu, right in the heart of the New Forest. Guests have praised the hotel's great position with easy access to the surrounding towns and great walks nearby. The hotel is set in beautiful gardens, including a beautiful courtyard garden and is perfect for relaxing with a pre-dinner drink while listening to the grandfather clock tick in the distant background. The location is excellent with the hotel set in a quintessentially English village that is also great for forest walks, pub dinners & coffees in nearby Lymington. The hotel's fantastic character, excellent food and drink also add to its brilliant location. Overall, guests have been impressed with the Montagu Arms' fantastic location in Beaulieu/New Forest, making it the ideal place to stay for those looking for a charming and relaxing getaway.

Breakfast

If you're looking for a hotel with an exceptional breakfast, The Montagu Arms might just be the place for you. Guests rave about the beautiful, great, excellent and superb breakfast options available at the hotel. There's a good varied breakfast with a great buffet and a good range of excellently cooked dishes on offer. And all this is served in a lovely room with a great selection of food available, overlooking the gorgeous garden. Nonetheless, those who dined at Monty's or the Terrace Restaurant raved about the outstanding food and unique dishes, such as chicken amuse bouches and pear dessert. The limited but well-crafted menus and great service made for a memorable dining experience overall.

Rooms

Guests can opt for the superior Willow room or even a fantastic hayloft suite with a garden view. Although some rooms were outdated and lacked soundproofing, the hotel is newly refurbished and spotlessly clean with lots of character. While some guests found the rooms hot, small or noisy, others described them as perfect and the bath as fantastic. Nothing is too much trouble for them and they always had a smile on their faces. Guests with children found the staff superb and made the stay pleasurable. Some guests mentioned specific staff members who stood out, namely Ben, Jared and the breakfast staff. However, others felt there was a lack of staff and some waiting staff were not efficient. Despite this, the majority of guests found the staff universally helpful, gracious, courteous and welcoming. Overall, they give the hotel a lovely atmosphere and no request was too big or small.
