Initially belonging to the Earl of Orkney, the Glenapp Estate was acquired by James Hunter at around 1870, who hired the renowned Edinburgh architect David Bryce to redesign the castle. Location

Glenapp Castle is a stunning hotel located on the beautiful coast of South West Scotland. Its location is tucked away in beautiful gardens that provide amazing views of the surroundings. Although some guests found it a bit difficult to locate initially, the discrete entrance only added to the allure of the castle. The grounds of the castle were frequently praised and were said to be amazing. The building itself is stunning and has been beautifully restored, providing a peaceful ambiance. Guests felt that the hotel had great character and excellent service from the staff, making it a truly great location for a peaceful stay.

Dinner

Glenapp Castle's dinner has received rave reviews from satisfied guests who have labeled the food and drink as delicious and fabulous. With exceptional service, great location and outstanding food, dining at Glenapp Castle has been memorable for many of the guests. Guests have appreciated the varied menus offered at the different dining locations and described the food as exceptional yet not too heavy. Even the pre-dinner drinks venue has been praised. Although there have been some complaints about the evening meal arrangements, guests have still found dining at Glenapp Castle an enjoyable and different experience.

Although some guests found the bedroom decor underwhelming and tired, the beds were comfortable and the rooms were extremely clean. Some guests reported a slight damp smell in one of the rooms, but overall, the rooms were charming and spacious with super comfortable beds and pillows.

Glenapp Castle is a truly exceptional hotel and its staff is one of its best attributes. The entire team is incredibly helpful, polite and hospitable, greeting guests upon arrival and managing every need quickly and efficiently. From the general manager personally coming out to meet guests during breakfast to the well-polished staff performance, it's clear that the staff at Glenapp Castle is exceptional. Guests constantly felt like the staff was around if they needed them, but they didn't intrude. The staff was exceedingly attentive, friendly and professional, making guests feel welcome from arrival to departure. They are truly exceptional hosts. Although there were a few rare instances where some guests had issues with slow or offhand service, these were isolated. Overall, the staff at Glenapp Castle is amazing and the hotel oozes a warm country house atmosphere. The beautiful grounds are perfect for walking and the breakfast and food in general are fantastic. The only downside of the staff experience may be the difficult-to-understand Scottish accents, but everyone is still very polite and accommodating.
