After two years, Grove started planning the hotel with Seely. Hand built by 400 men hauling granite boulders from the Sunset Mountain, the hotel opened for business less than a year later. Jennings Bryan, the Secretary of State, delivered an address for the grand-opening. The hotel is a proud member of the "Historic Hotels of America".
